PS - I got my name (thanks to Carl) due to the fact I had (and loved) for many years the Carver Amazing Platinum Mark IV speakers. I unfortunately had to get rid of them for my move to Annapolis since my A/V room is much smaller. I'm now
looking for a suitable replacement. I was using two pairs of the Maggie MCM1's mounted on the walls for side and back speakers (a remarkable match), which I kept. I don't have room for Dipoles up front any more (my Platinums needed 3-1/2 feet from the front wall and 4 feet from the side walls.) I am thinking of the Definitive Tech Mythos STS speakers, or some of the new Polk in-walls. I hope I'll be able to hear the in-walls at the Fest. My MCM1's may not be a good match for any of these. Any advice is welcome.

I have Polk LCi in-walls and really like them for the surround system, but I wonder if you would be happy with them since you loved the Carvers so much. Why not treat the room instead, and put some Carver's, Maggies, Quad's or InnerSound Isis (smaller version of the Eros) in there closer to the walls/corners? My bud Norm has the large InnerSound Eros (electrostatic dipoles) in a much smaller room than yours (13x16 IIRC) and has heavily treated the first and second reflection points with GIK panels. This allows closer placement to the back wall/corners. He gets a wide and deep soundstage, female singers are in your lap, and subs need not apply. Ask Carl as he has heard Norm's system.

I understand how large rooms can allow dipoles to sound great without room treatment as I get away without treatment set up on my long West wall. My South wall setup can load up bass in the corners at high SPL's. My listening room is open to the main level with high ceilings. GIK has some new recommendations for me (with diffusor's and their Tri-Traps) so I may try it again.

No, it's not the one by the airport. It's the first hotel listed in the "Polkfest 2008 information" thread under "near Polk HQ". It's probably 40 minutes or so from BWI, maybe closer depending on traffic.

Decided to fly rather than drive. Can I get an idea of when festivities will start on Friday? Can I fly in that day rather than take Thursday off of work? If there will be a lot going on Friday (all day) then I take the extra day but if things won't really get going until later then I can fly out early Friday morning???

Yea, I'm looking at flying out of Chicago at 8:00 and arriving at 11:00. Doug will already be out there (on business w/a rental car) and if he can pick me up at the airport; I don't imagine I'll miss much. I just hate to burn a vacation day just for travel reasons.

Believe it or not I was playing kickball. My job formed a league and tues night was the first game. I was in left field and the ball was kicked to me and i was running and throwing the ball at the same time and when my foot came down it twisted and I felt 2 pops in my knee. I went to the ER and they think i tore the miniscus. I have to schedule a MRI to find out the extent of the damage. Its my right knee so making the 5 hour drive next week might be hard. Believe it or not I was playing kickball. My job formed a league and tues night was the first game. I was in left field and the ball was kicked to me and i was running and throwing the ball at the same time and when my foot came down it twisted and I felt 2 pops in my knee. I went to the ER and they think i tore the miniscus. I have to schedule a MRI to find out the extent of the damage. Its my right knee so making the 5 hour drive next week might be hard. I hope I can make it as well. I will keep everyone posted.

Dave I will be heading up, and you can catch a ride with me. We can work something out. There are others passing through too.

I don't know much about tubes.. but I like detail in my music.. as well as smooth vocals.. bass doesn't really matter that much to me.. so if I had to sacrifice the bass to get smooth mid vocals and detailed highs. i'm will to make that sacrifice. ;)

what is in my price range of about $75 for a pair? smooth long plates? it doesn't make sense to me.. but I read that people like them.

Hey its great here in Baltimore, spending time with Jesse, just went through his goodies, found some kind of liquid gel put it on my hair and now it does not move, his cat took one look at me and split, must of been the cum here pussy comment I made.

What a day yesterday was. Steve (Polk65) called me from the airport yesterday ~12:34PM, looking for a ride. Sure I said! We'll be there in about 6 hours...cause we was still in Monroeville, PA.... When we hit Pikesville around 7PM, we called to find him still at the airport! Brock had joined him. At least we picked them up before they got arrested for pandering.:p:D
