HA! I bet you thought I was going to start selling off alot of my stuff for cheap didn't you - not a chance.
I figured I'd start this thread as a centralized place for us to share with each other any good deals on HD DVD players or media that we run across. I know some (including myself) have posted deals in other threads, but figured a centralized location would be nice.
I'll start with a couple myself, if you happen to run across any post 'em here. These can all usually be found somewhere like FatWallet or SlickDeals, but having them here means we don't have to scroll through all the other junk posted out there.
Note - This is NOT a BR vs HD DVD thread, BR won, we all get it, okay?

I'll Start:
Best Buy has the Toshiba A35 for $135 after their 10% off coupon posted here (http://www.pocketdeal.com/deal-BestBuy-10--off-one-item-printable-coupon%5E32755.aspx). I should mention too, online is sold out and stock in-store is very hard to find at this point, but it's worth a shot if you've got a BB nearby you can check out.
Costco has the HD-D3 (same as the A3 except you get the last two Bourne movies and an HDMI cable in the box) for $79.99. This is online and in store.
CompUSA has the A3 for $90 (in case you don't have a Costco membership) - found here (http://www.compusa.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=3304908&sku=T24-9148&SRCCODE=COMEM011).

If you have a Hollywood Video nearby that carriers HD DVD titles, they are supposedly running a sale. People on FatWallet are reporting grabbing movies for less than $10 each there.

You had me going there for a minute. Is there a HUGE difference between the HD DVD's and the upsampling of regular DVD's on good players?

HUGE is a bit of an overstatement, but even my parents, who aren't into this stuff at all, immediately noticed a difference.

Best Buy has the HD DVD drive for the XBOX 360 for $50. I don't know anything about it, but here's the link - here (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8132095&type=product&id=1158321865239).

The upconversion made a noticeable difference on my Tosh player, not day-and-night, but it's noticeable.

Movie Trading Company in Lewisville, TX has all HD HVD for $14.99. I would think all locations would have the same deal.

Yesterday I picked up the Planet Earth HD-DVD set from the Discovery Store for 30 bucks, but the deal seems to have disappeared now and it's back up to 80 bucks.

That's a great price and an excellent HD DVD. And added bonus for me that I didn't expect was that my kids (ages 4 & 10) love to watch it. It's probably my favorite HD DVD that I own...and I paid $60 for it less than 2 months ago.

DeepDiscountDVD is having a big sale also, lots of titles at 9.99 and 12.70 - LINK (http://www.deepdiscount.com/viewcategory.htm?categoryId=462364&sortby=price&count=).
Some are dups from the Amazon deal, but are cheaper here. Damn, right after I ordered a few movies from Amazon last night.

I bought an A30 (bestbuy) to replace my A2 (will go back to walmart) for just $109 tonight. It will go in my theater. In addition, I am having a friend pick up a D3 (costco A3) for me for $79 to be upconverting player downstairs on the Pioneer Plasma. Woo hoo! For less that $199, I get two nice HDDVD/upconverting players, two copies of Bourne, two of 300, and 10 more by mail! I already got 5 by mail, and am waiting on 5 more, currently.
Nice.

Yup, a couple times. I know the list I got was different from the list a friend of mine got several months later.

sbpolk,
If you're getting the A30 and the D3 actually, here's the movies you'll end up with:
A30:
300
Bourne Identity
D3:
Bourne Supremacy
Bourne Ultimatum
So with those two players you end up with 300 and the full Bourne trilogy, which is even better!

Unfortunately, I got the D3 this morning and I still got identity and 300. So now I have three copies of identity, and two of 300. Woot! ;)

Buy any HDTV at BB for $999 or more, get the A3 for free or any HD-DVD or BD players for $100 less . If you buy any HDTV for less than $999, you can get the A3 for $50.

If you're looking for hardware, keep an eye on ubid.com. A while back there were a number of XA2 refurbs available for ~$225.
I just won a refurb XA1 for $65 shipped. Now, you might ask why anyone would be interested in a 1st generation player that doesn't do 1080p... Well, because it's built like a tank and looks like it might be fun to play around with as a CD player.

The D3 is supposed to come with the two Bourne movies, mine says it right on the box, at least that's what all the ones at my Costco show...

It might be from Sam's Club. They beat the Costco price and going for $68 now. No 5 Free HD DVD I guess.
My XA1 bite dust this weekend. Welcome screen stays on so I decided to take it apart (I still have my A1 to play movies with). I'll most likely replace the inside with a HTPC and put in BD burner once they get cheaper... Why? Because the case looks good and is built much better than the $200-300 HTPC cases you see for sale. :)

I have a line on an XA2 I am going to go pick up tomorrow.... $99 new in box! Wish me luck!
I was headed to Utah today from Boise, and yesterday I did some calling around to see if I could find an a35. Noone in Boise had any. So I called a store called RC Willey, and they didn't have any a35s either.
On a whim I asked if they had an XA2, and the sales looked it up and said they had a clearance one in the warehouse for $99! I was very stoked, gave him a card number to pay for it, and drove down. I understood it to be new in the box.
When I picked up the player, I found it was an open box. I spoke with the manager and told him that it was second gen player, open box, and that I was upset that I had been told $99 and had not been told it was an open box. I told him I thought the player was worth about $50 to me.
He pulled it up in the computer, and informed me retail was $799, their cost was $531, and that HDDVD was a "dead format." I told him I understood that, and given that HDDVD was dead, it was not worth $99 to me.
He asked me if I would still take it for $50, and I indicated I would.
He refunded me $53, and I was out the door with a mint XA2 for $53!
I used to have an XA2, which I sold when things started looking bad for HDDVD. Glad I did, I sold it used for $430. In the meantime, I have been using a $98 Walmart HD-A2, which I took back today for a full refund. The CSR said they had been trained to expect returns on HDDVD players, and to go ahead and give full refunds.
It was a good day for me. Last week I bought a D3 for $79 (costco) and an a30 for $109 (bestbuy), and now will decide which of those to keep.
Woot@!
