For quite awhile I was getting ready to buy a second player and more software but common sense has taken hold and it's time to get out. Now that everything is going Blu it's only a matter of time before my HD-DVD titles get replaced with Blu so there's no reason to hold onto a dead format, at least, not with the few 28 titles I have.

If Blu goes strong for the next year I plan to start selling off my SD-DVD collection as well and only holding onto those few "can't live without" titles if there not yet replaced with Blu.

My HD DVD player will be staying right where its at, at least until the warranty runs out in 4 or so years, then I might look into replacing my HD disc with BD disc. The only way I can see replacing any of my HD disc with Blu is if the Blu version had better audio or better video encode, which I doubt will happen the studios are likely to just use the same encode they used on the HD version of the film and save some money.

While I understand what your saying, HD DVD is a dead format and I don't plan on buying anymore HD DVD's, you talk like its VHS or something. HD DVD is still a top notch format and every bit as good as Blu-Ray so I see no reason to start selling off every thing and going and spending twice as much as you will get for your HD DVD's on the Blu-Ray version when there will be no difference between the two.

Also I still rent a ton of SD DVD and I think most every one here would agree that for the money HD DVD player are some of the best up converting player you can buy, nearly every HDM disc I buy I rent the SD version first so I don't get a bunch movies I'll watch one time and never pick up again like I did with SD DVD's, so the up converting is just another plus to keep my HD DVD player, but hey thats just my opinion and you what they say about those.

SOLD!

I hear ya, but I have a small collection and a good half of those were one time watches as I bought them blind just because they were hi-def. I never invested heavily into the format in the first place, 2 year's in and only 1 player and less then 30 movies. It's no loss to get out now and just put the money towards Blu.

In the last 2 months I've watched 3 HD-DVDs and those were only new one's I bought, nothing I have in my collection did I really go back and revisit so again, I see no reason to really keep with the format.

But, it is a great format and the upscaling of my A1 is excellent, but, I haven't watched an SD-DVD in nearly 4 months or longer. Even upscaled on a A1 they still look pretty bad compared and it's just too painful to watch on a BIG screen.

I can understand your thoughts Ron-P, but its hard for me to part with the XA2. That thing does some awesome upconversion of my SD DVD collection. My future purchases will be on Blu, no way Im buying 300 + SD DVDs all over on Hi Def.

Same here, my Blu collection will never reach the size of my current SD-DVD collection. But, I'll not need an upconverting HD-DVD player, my PS3 and Sammy Blu player both do just as good a job at it. Plus, my plan is to start drastically thinning the SD-DVD collection.

Color me an HD-DVD fan, but I see the XA2 holding its value for some time to come... it's a monster of a unit.

I agree with you Ron.

I only own 16 HD DVD movies and have no desire to buy anymore. I went blu and love it. I buy only blu disks now.aonce all my movies I own on HD DVD make it to Blu, I will do that same thing. I was smart about it and I own the HD DVD drive for the xbox 360. for 179.99 I got 6 free movies and loved it. I would trade the experience for the money back.
But I would like to get some of it back to spend it on Blu Disks. Transformers is my Favorite and once thats on Blu I'm out on HD.
