Does anybody know where I can find some info on Polks new SR amps? I'm wanting to see if they're gonna be better matched up with the SR6500's I'll be getting than the Alpine PDX series.

Have a look- I don't believe they'll be called "SR" amps, but instead will be the "PA" series. They look promising, and I can't wait to find out about pricing for the series.

I think the "PA" might stand for Polk Audio :)

if u are bi-amping the 4x100 alpine PDX is a good choice, if not... go with the 2x150 or 4x150 PDX, if u have the money and u are going to bi-amp.... the 4x150 will be even better than the 4x100, just set your gains carefully.

they are very high quality amps made by brax in germany. the specs are outstanding and they are bulletproof.

only wish they offered the SR subs in dual-2 so we could use em with the new 5-channel :)

Yeah Helix are well worth looking at, a bit cheaper than Brax but the SQ is still excellent. And the Europeans build the best SQ amps in the world.

Yeah I think thats one area Polk is missing the boat on. A lot of amps are 1 ohm stable now and a dual 2 ohm sub could be used with those. They could also be wired in series for a 4 ohm sub so youre back to the original applications.
Take Crossfire for instance. All their Class D amps are stable to 1 ohm, so if I wanted to power a single SR124, Id have to buy their 1400 watt amp in order to get the 700 watts I needed and since 1400 watt amps are more expensive than 700 watt amps that aint good.

I'm not to familiar with Class D, but I do know the alpine PDX amps are listed at say 600 watts at 4 and at 2 ohms (not 1200 at 2 ohms or something smaller but more than 600). So maybe these are the same, 4, 2 or 1 ohm are all the same power output. That would make the 5 channel amp perfect for me. 85 watts x 4 to my set of SR6500's and the 600 watts to my 10" SR sub.

By the looks of things, I don't think the new Polk amps are like that. I know what you mean, JL does the same thing with their amps. the 5-channel amp puts out 600 watts at 1 ohm, that probably makes 300 watts at 2 ohms or something like that... I wish their 1200 watt d-class put that much power out at 2 ohms instead of 1... either that or their subs were dual 2ohm coils... I'd like to send 1200 watts to EACH of my sr subs :D

Good catch. You cannot butt these amps side by side. Aside from the logo plate (the silver thing), you need some slack for your wiring.
