does it mattere where your crossover is?

I made some custom kick panels for a golf cart and i was wondering if i could mount the inline crossover for my pair of mmc650's anywhere inside the inclosure with none of it exposed. would this make ths speakers sound worse. does the inline crossover make sound ????? please help

The best place to mount it should be near the amp with double runs of speaker wire.

Mounting inside the enclosure is perfectly fine, just make sure to protect the crossover from vibrations as much as possible.
