Hi All,
Last month I bought around 30 feet of the Monster Powerline 2 time coherent cable from Joe (hearingimpared) and then a few weeks later he found his last piece and sent it to me for Free!!!!, Thanks a lot Joe!,
He said I might as well use it for my center channel speaker and I just got some free time to do just that. It's around 8 feet long & only made the cable around 24" long.
Below are the steps I took to strip & terminate the cable: (please ignore the dirty couch, I think that's coffee and cat puke)

Possibly stupid question, but, 'Deoxit' is used in place of tinning, right?

Tinning is getting all the strans of wire hot and melting solder on and around each strand so as to make a better solder joint.
Deoxit is a de - oxidizing agent.
I hope your were kidding!!:p

No, I wasn't kidding. The way I was 'looking' at it, was, tinning, aside from providing structural integrity, would prevent oxidation to the EXPOSED strands.
And I assumed that 'Deoxit' was used along the lines of dielectric grease, that electricians use for high amp app.'s- i.e. L1 & L2 connections on a house.
NOT defending my ignorance, just explaining it:confused:

I used it because it cleans up the connection and tries to keep the oxidation from forming.

I would use actual Ideal Deoxit instead of CAIG for long term, mechanical connections.
