Logitech Harmony One

Looking real hard at one of these. Anyone have any experience with it?

upgraded from the 880, the one is a very nice piece of equipment, button layout has been improved and it feels much more natural in my hand. it responds well and the logitech online updating makes it easy to use

I'm in the same boat, but I am considering the One, the 659 on the cheap, or the 1000.

thoughts:

659= dirt cheap and looks to have fairly solid reviews for a remote of this price range.

1000= expensive as hell (at least for me) but beautiful. Not sure if its worth the extra 150-200 in comparison to the One though.

One= Looks to be the best bang for the buck "middle range" universal. Button layout sounds to be more intuitive, looks better, etc.

My one beef is that stupid Sony decided to not include an ir receiver in the ps3, so I'd still have to have that remote, or buy the nyko just for the ir usb receiver...

amazon had the 1000 on sale for 275 a couple days back, and theres a $100 coupon floating around so it was basically $175, they sold out instantly at that price but i would continue watching its price

I've had the 1000 for about 6 months now. Very happy with it. Works fine for me. Got it from Amazon for around $275.

One thing to mention...the 1000 usually requires two hands to hold it and work it. With the others a lot of the time you can just use it by feel with one hand. I'd actually like to have one of each....so depending on how lazy I'm feeling....

But to quote my wife, "That's not gonna happen". :)

Buttons get stuck and then keep repeating the signal over and over. Overall, very clunky remote and PITA to use. Easy to program though but I would think all the other Harmony's are as well.

I am leaning heavily towards the 1000 now, and don't mind the 1 hand bit. I can just lay it in my lap as a truly lazy soul would :)

I have had the 1000 for about the same amount of time as Mark. When I upgraded to Leopard on my computer I initially had some issues updating it but now it is configured perfectly and my guests and friend find it to be a godsend.

Borrowing a thought from fatchowmein's 880 thread, I am now wondering about how well I can see the buttons on the One. I need reading glasses most of the time. Is the screen comparable to a cell phone for instance? I used to laugh at 'older' folks reaching for glasses everytime they needed to see something in the paper...

I was lucky to get mine for $175 during that crazy Amazon sale. I heard some people got the 1000 and the RF extender for $175, which is even crazier. I think the 1000 is a nice looking remote, but I still prefer my 880 to it. I just like feeling the buttons against my thumb... I don't want to look down at a screen every time I want to change the channel. If I were you, I would would buy a cheap Logitech and wait until they come out with a Bluetooth remote. IR dongles are nice, but you cannot power on a PS3 with it.

Received my ONE yesterday, got a killer deal from eCOST on the unit. Began programming it last night and everything passed with flying colors minus the remote trying to select inputs on my projector. For what ever reason, the ONE doesn't select HDMI input. All the labels are there so if I go into the device menu and go to the projector and select the HDMI input, it switches the projector to the PC input, it's almost like it has the wronf inputs for selected inputs, if that makes since. I tried teaching the input buttons using the projector remote but I got tired of fooling with it last night and just gave up. When I get home this afternoon I'm going to try it again to see if I have any luck.

Neither of my parents have an issue with the screen or the buttons on the ONE I bought them, and they generally need reading glasses all the time as well. I am actually thinking I may can the 890 and go get another ONE, I like the interface a little better, as well as the layout/buttons....The 890 is a little rough for me to use when I am groggy in the morning sometimes....

The screen is a little like the newer cell phones, only it is a little clearer IMO. You can also re-name the "buttons" on the screen, something I never played with on my 890, I don't remember if I can or not....I used to get calls like "how do I watch f'in TV?" so I programed the button to say "watch f'in TV" and "watch a f'in movie" I figured that would answer the question for them. :D

My Harmony One arrived today. So far, it's fantastic. I prefer it over the 880. Nice upgrade. Much better ergonomics.

I have the 520 and I've had it for about a year and 1/2 now and I still can't figure out how to get the damn thing to work. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

Of course, I'm computer retaaaaaded, so that doesn't help matters. :p

What about the One vs. the 880? I am looking at both because they look similar, but the 880 is a little cheaper. Has anyone had any compatibility problems with the 880 controlling their newer components (blu-ray player, etc)? Right now on eCOST, the One is $189.99 while the 880 is $148.99.

I absolutely love my Harmony One. I've owner many different universal remotes (Philips, Sony, URC) and this one has been by far the easiest to program and operate.

I friend of mine just moved from the 880 to the One because he liked the layout of the buttons and the feel of the One much better. He doesn't have any trouble controlling his equipment and he's much happier with the new remote overall.

I have the 890 and am very happy with it, but I do find that I can't control it "by feel", which is apparently one thing the One does much better.

DAMN!!! I have had the ONE in my shopping cart on Amazon waiting for it to go down below 200 dollars. Yesterday it was down to 210 and today, back up to 235. DOH!

I check the price daily so next time it dips down to 210 I am definitely picking it up.

I'm taking ya'lls advice and I just bit the bullet and ordered the One from eCOST for $198 shipped. I'm excited to see how this thing does.
