One thing I notice is sometimes I put on something that sounds like crap at first but as I adapt to the sound I find the real beauty of the recording. Had I immediately changed my systems sound I may have never found the gold.

As I was cruising the forum and read this, it rang true in many ways...
I just recently got some new MIT S1 I/C cables (3 pair), and a few new matching sets of various tubes...
Last week I decided to burn them all in at the same time....so I set about swapping cables and tubes in all the associated gear...
I have been running the rig non-stop for 5 days (and nights), today being day 5....at night I turn it down (somewhat) and throw some thick towels over the speaks, so as not to disturb the clan.....
Day 1 was horrible !
Everything was thin and flat and really sucked !!
Day two and three ....just about the same, but some sound stage and depth started creeping in, and the sound started to have some tone to it..
This morning as I got up, made some Joe, and went into my office to remove the "veils" from my trusty 9`s.......and it hit me..!!
DAMN !!
She is sounding sweet !!
I have had Spyro Gyra "Catchin The Sun" on a continuous loop, and when I removed the towels....it was right, just plain right !!
I listened to the music mature and did not`t really have time to get used to one variance more than the next as it was "burning in"......and my rig has no tone controls...what you record is what you get type of thing...
I have a few more matched pairs of tubes to throw in and "burn in" as I am at work next week, but I gotta tell ya....what a difference 5 days makes !!
The MIT S1 Series I/C`s are highly recommended !
I will be getting the S1 Series Speaker cables as soon as funds allow...for now, the AQ Bedrocks (in Bi-Wire config) are doing a great job...
I was going to go up a few notches when I replaced my cables, but the cost of the cables shouldn't, IMO , cost more than the associated gear by that high of a margine..
.....they should be equal, or slightly above, again, IMO...
Don`t misunderstand....price has nothing to do with sound quality....it`s not what you spend, it`s what you get for what you spend......and one usually get`s what one pays for...
So I went with Brand New `08 MIT Shotgun S1`s.....KILLER KABLES!!
**If you are looking at getting the best cables out there for a great price, check out Joe Abrams on the ~Gon...Great guy, and will hook you up !!**(He does MIT exclusively)
I swapped out the tubes in the Jolida, the Cary 98 Pre, and will be swapping out the V12 soon....(If I keep her)..
The Cary SLP-98 has found a permanent home here with me and any gear I have or will have in the future.....I highly recommend you get the F1 Version from Uncle Kev @ Upscale Audio.... although it may be a Little more to get the F1 Version, but I think it`s worth it
...... and you can pick from a few different colors !! :p
The Jolida is a great CDP and a good "bang for buck" deal...
and Mods are available to make it a player worthy of keeping for the long run....
BUT...,
I am looking for a good deal on either an HDCD, or SACD player (Cary 306 Professional)....just to see what , if anything, that I may be missing out on..
The power cords , when I`m done will all be PS Audio "Plus" cables...... for the $$, they work beautifully, and stay out of the sounds way....as in they are very neutral, and make a very notice able difference in clarity and fullness of sound....just like taking the towels off of the speaks !!
The new (black) Belkin PF60 is still in the box, as I don`t have room in the rack , and will be ordering another level soon from Adona Corp.....another Highly Recommended Product.....check out their website, you won`t be disappointed.....
......great guy to deal with, and he is willing to work with you
I also have a brand new (black) Belkin PF60 is in my HT rig and has been an outstanding addition to the HT rig...
it has a delayed "on" to power on each recepticle to power up in any sequence you want......very cool !
I am searching for the threads (again !) for the guy that has the cool "hockey Pucks", so I can keep the air flowing through everything
I don`t stack much...they are just a tweak experiment, as I have heard good things about these...
Sorry about the long post...just thought I would share my Saturday Morning with my Brothers and Sisters....
The coffee is kickin in, so I should stop and change the disk....this one has been looping for 5 days now !!! :D
*maybe I shouldn`t have used so much esspreso !!**
"Cary" On !!!
