View Full Version : Question about tweeters and speaker wiring.

The tweeter on my Emmy's is exposed in the back. I'm wondering if I fabricated the proper connections, could I attach my signal speaker wire to the positive and negative on the back of the tweeter? From what I can tell this is basically what is done right now, except a wire is run from the tweeter to the binding posts at the bass of the speaker.

I figure better wire attached directly to the tweeter and the lack of a binding post should yield even better sound. This is something I want to experiment with once I get everything broken in, but I don't want to blow my speaker up.

Thanks

Mike

Just as long as you don't over power them, you shouldn't have a problem.

No XO, and straight to a tweeter? I think it would blow.

I think he is just trying to put better wire to the tweeter by replacing the factory wire, not bypassing the XO. I am not an expert, but whatever wire came from the factory had a certain guage, metal type and wind, and inductance for that speaker, you may not want to mess with it. I would be careful as to not void the warranty...
