EQ hookup

I have an old Coustic 20 band home eq and am wondering how to hook it up to my Onkyo. I have it hooked up the way I think it should be and the lights on the analyzer bounce all over, but I cannot make any adjustments, does not change the sound.

Any suggestions? Thanks

preamp out -> eq -> preamp in

tape out -> eq -> tape in ; push tape-mon button to use

If you can't do either of these, then I dunno

I figured it out, what a moron I can be. I ran my sirius radio through the eq, works great

How's the sound quality with the EQ? I found Sirius to be slightly compressed and MP3-like sounding compared to XM Radio.
