For AudioQuest Fans or those experience with them.

I am researching Audioquest speaker cables, and I see that I can get the Type 6 or CV4 for the same amount. By chance has anyone had experience with both.

I'm trying to see which one is considered the better cable. Both 10ft runs for 149

I think the CV-4 are DBS cables. The type 6 not. Ask Ben, he has the CV-4's.

Olkiepolkie on here is an authorized AQ dealer, so I'd recommend shooting him a PM for opinions & pricing too. I bought nearly all my gear from Zach :)

I would go for the CV-4's. I got a good deal on them, and I was hoping to turn a profit on some rich dummy(I figured DBS on speaker cables was a scam). Well.... This broke dummy ended up keeping them. I have not tried the 6's, but I do have the regular type 4's. There is noticeable difference in cleaner highs with the DBS.

Go dbs. It works and works well. All my audio cables in my system all have DBS. I use the CV8's. But the type 4 6 and 8's are fantastic cables.

If you go with CV4's also get Jaguars to match between preamp and amp. Also replace your cd and sacd connections with Jag's. You will hear a difference with all DBS.

Honestly you can't go wrong with Audioquest. I use 14-2 on my rears custom install cable cl3 rated wire. It sounds great.

I hate to sound like a dork...but what does the DBS stand for? Audiovisor's site is down

Sounds like you guys prefer CV4 over the Type 6.

I currently have HGA silver running between the amp and pre....I will need to add new interconnects between CD and pre. May need to check ben out in the near future :)

Jbrax, I don't know what it stands for and I don't care. I do know that I like it and it's basically a battery pack that sends a charge apparently on the outside of the wires to block any outside interference. I have the CV-8's with the 72v DBS upgrade and quite honestly, I couldn't be happier with what it does with my rig and the end result that it brings to my ears.

Hey Tom did you hear the wires previous to the 72v upgrade?

Thanks

Nope. Got 'em as is from EarlyB and then another set from one of his friends. They are both the same. Hubba, hubba.

The CV-8's are great cables. I shouldn't have sold mine. Glad to hear treitz is still enjoying them, though.

I recommend the DBS also. AQ has said in a review that anything over 50v is over kill. So try to stay around 50 for max performance. I recently upgraded to the Colombia I/C's at 48v and I like them a lot.

Thanks for the education. I now see that all cv4 is not created equal. The price I was seeing equal to the Type 6 is for a non-dbs version, hence the modest (all relative of course) price of 149.

So it would be type 6 over the cv4 (non dbs)

With DBS - definately CV - but now I have to see how committed I was to my initial price range :)

Thanks again all for the info
