I recently purchase RTIA7 with A6 center and FX6 rears for our new family room. Needless to say I finally found a real sound system!

I would like to change my old living room system and need your help in finding new speakers.......

I have a OKAY receiver which will be upgraded in the near future but I currently want to work on the speaker "status". Current speakers are the Bose Acoustimass 3 for fronts and Series 2 for rears, dual base modules. I have never been happy with these speaker. Highs are ok, no middle and base is marginal. When listening to music, if you turn it up it just gets loud, unlike the RTIA7s which just makes the music sound closer. In home theater mode, the system just sucks, I'm totally unable to understand the movie's dialogue and sound affects are lame.

Short of buying more RTIA7s, A6 center and FX rears - I'm open to suggestions. To be honest I'm not sure the wife would allow large speakers in the living room. The current Bose speakers are pre-wire behind the ceiling and mounted at ceiling height. I am hoping for re-use of the wiring and locations.

Any suggestion would be helpfull!

Thanks!

Rick

Do you have a price range you need to stay within?

Sorry, I forgot about that part.........money!

As of right now I'd say between $1,000 to $2,500 for complete speaker set up.

PS: I forgot to mention, part of the recent upgrade included a PSW125....I do love my base and I finally got it with the PSW125.

Thanks!

Are inwalls an option? You could check out the Polk RTi series inwalls.

I've thought about it for the kitchen / dining common area but not for the living room. Recent discussion with the wife for the kitchen area has been greated with rolling eyes. I know she would have issue with me cutting holes in the walls.......plus I've wonder what type of acuostics you would get from a wall or ceiling cavity....? My ceilings are open to the attic above .......... wouldn't that hurt the base from the speakers?
