I am considering the purchase of a new progressive scan dvd player to go with my new HDTV. I am looking to spend under $200 if possible. Some possible models include:
Samsung DVDP721M@$129
Panasonic DVD-RP82S@$169
Sony DVP-N5715P@$189
Toshiba SD-3800@$151
Comments, Suggestions?

I have a friend with the dvp-ns715p and he is very happy with it. I compars for video nicely with my 9000es. I like the pause-stop-turn off and start in the middle of where you left off in a movie feature. Also if you have a sony tv it is nice to have one remote.

The Panasonic or the Toshiba are both good choices that I have viewed. If you like the Toshiba and interested in DVD-A (which the Panasonic RP82 has) you could step up to the Toshiba SD-4800 for under $200. I really liked both of them equally and was leaning towards the Toshiba only because it was a little cheaper than the Panasonic and my current Toshiba DVD player has been an excellent performer for over 4 years. I'll need to buy a DVD player sometime next year and unless something really better comes along it will be one of these two.

I like the looks of the panasonic and the samsung most. Silver faces. The panasonic matches the brand of my tv too. I am kind of leaning that way. I like the silver face look with blue lcd.

I still dig the Yamaha 6480, even though it's $399. You probably got a quality tv, why not a higher quality player? :)

On your original post you list the 82 @ 169, that I would be all over, the 62 doesn't excite me. However if you don't mind a multi disc you might want to look at the 72. Has the Faroudja chip set which many believe is the best on the market. With the $30 rebate the price difference is well worth it.
