Does anyone know if this DAC can accept a Toslink signal from a Xbox360? Has anyone done it?

The website says:
Note: The DAC-AH does not recognize PCM or
LCPM 2 channel material from DVD Audio.

So, I'm not sure if the 360 will work. . .

I wonder if that is more of a bit depth and sampling rate limitation due to the older chip in that DAC. I would think that the DAC could handle 16/44.1 from any PCM source, assuming the xBox can be set to that resolution.

Yeah exactly. I was thinking the same. My goal is just to have a nice but affordable DAC for the 360. My system as it stands now really pokes some holes in the 360s onboard DACS. . . so much so that it is noticeable during gameplay. I used to have a CA840C which I used as a DAC for the 360, so I know the 360 is to blame.

One watchout on the DAH-ah is the clipping and distortion on hot material with a lot of bass. Games might be a real problem in that regard.

There are a couple big threads on this, maybe at head-fi, don't recall. Supposedly some units were running the wrong voltage to the DAC chip. Folks figured out a couple ways to fix this with some part changes/additions.

I haven't used my 360 in a while, so I'm only guessing.

Make sure the output is only stereo, and not 5.1. Then you shouldn't have a problem other than what was mentioned above.
