Rented it and it did have some cool action/horror sequences to it. The Alien/Predator hybrid creature was somewhat creative and all, leaving off where the 1st AVP ended (not that the 1st was that great) but somehow this movie was not that entertaining at all for me. I absolutely love 'ALIENS', probably my favorite sci-fi movie to date and the 2 'Predator' movies weren't to shabby, but this one, well, kinda sucked IMO, disappointing since I was all psyched for the DVD release and didn't see it in the theater. Anyone else?

same here. It has Friday the 13th flavor to it, or any suspense/horror flick to it, less on Alien that I know of. Dissapointing for sure.

Watched it last night and really enjoyed it. I watched the BD and quite a few of the dark scenes seemed so overly dark it was almost impossible to see what was going on. I tried adjusting some settings on my PJ but that didn't help much. Anyone else notice how dark this movie seemed to be?

there's a thread on AVS about that, Ron. It appears that the BD version is indeed overly dark transfer. In fact, the unrated SD version is much better than BD version, PQ wise. Story line still not as engaging as AVP.

Yep, same here, standard def DVD. Tried adjusting the pic to but a lot of the movie was just to dark.

i watched the standard dvd last night i thought it was dark at times as well, but i still enjoyed it. it's not as good as the firt avp, but i'd buy it. what did you all think of the movies sound quality. all of my system, especially my sub, got a nice workout. i wasn't expecting so much bass in this movie, but i was thouroughly surprised.

I watched it in DTS. The SQ was pretty good on my YSP and RTi's.

Watched it in theaters whenever that was...January?

Anyhoo, was pretty cool way to waste some time...no regrets about watching it, but there was certainly nothing inherently worthwhile in the movie.

I agree, even in the theater, there were scenes that were way too dark to make heads or tails of. There was one particular scene where they were fighting in the sewer system...yeah, I have no idea who was where, doing what, or who was winning that part.

I just watched the Standard DVD... no problems with the colors at all. But I don't have a HD tv either.

While I wouldn't say it was the best movie I've seen this year, it kept me entertained, and the hybrid-alien was pretty bad-ass you have to admit. Shoving eggs down people's throats was a creepy extra.

I would definitely buy it in the $5 bin at Walmart, and rent it again for kicks. the DTS track rocked my SVS as well... had to turn it down half-way through because I thought it was going to blow a gasket! Ha.

6 outta 10 here... and worthy of the ride.

I also enjoyed this one. Not as good as the first one but still pretty good. Michelle (Sp) did better here than in 24.

Just watched the movie on Blu Ray yesterday. Very dark movie visually. I had to adjust my set a bit, but not too bad. I enjoyed it for what it is, great popcorn flick. Even the wife enjoyed it. The DTS HD-MA track on the Blu Ray disc is pretty rocking too.

The movie sucked...the LFE was pretty good...the black levels were abominable. If the BD version was worse than the SD, then I'm glad I didn't wait to rent it. Occasionally, I want mindless entertainment...unfortunately, I minded this one.

The movie was a typical movie of one that derived from a video game
! if you expected more then you got your hopes up too far.

Rented this last night and just finished watching it and thought it was very good, much better than the first one. The first one just seemed to start off very slow with the first hour moving very slow then all of a sudden BOOM big fight scene and its over. Huh?

This one started out rocking and never really quit. True it wasnt the best story or writing but it was good enough.

You get to see the Predator whoop a whole lotta ass in this one which was very cool. The ending was kinda weird but then again I dont think anybody would consider this one for an Oscar.

All in all, a very solid flick and easily in the top 10% of sci-fi/horror flicks. Definitely worth a rental and even buying if you can find it for $12-15 or so.

The black levels were horrible. My puny little 27" Sony did an admirable job of making it look as good as possible in SD but with everything so dark along with the tiny screen especially in widescreen made it kinda hard to keep up with what was going on on occasion.
