I had posted a previous thread on an e-bay auction I decided against. My friend was not so lucky. He had won an auction and sent $1275 through Paypal. He then started getting e-mails from 5 others who claimed to have paid for the same thing. So far this guy has collected $9800 for a telescope no one has seen. His apartment address turned out to be a mail box etc. post office box. If you’re doing some shopping on E-bay this Christmas, please take extra care. That 1 in 315,000 fraud statistic seems to be out the window this season.

Out of curiousity, where was the person that was selling that item based out of? I don't want to make assumptions about anywhere, but I've heard a LOT of problems about auctions that are listed out of the NY/NJ areal, so I'm somewhat leery about bidding out there, especially on high ticket items.........

White Bear lake, MN It seems he's got everyone's money. The Police have a watch on the P.O box he used. It seems the P.O. is right next to the police department, talk about irony.

whats the sellers name, if the account was opened within the last year e-bay requires a credit card on file to open a sellers account. so they would have a verified address and credit card info, i sell on e-bay for the past 3 1/2 years and have an account pre the credit card thing, but eventually had to update it so they can take the fee's when i sell... they used to just bill you and they got stiffed to many times and with bogus people creating names at random and scamming people.

Hoosier,
You would'nt buy from this guy anyway. He only has a -1 rating and it's very bad. Although he just sent an email stating the scope he ordered should be there by Christmas. He did not give any contact information or a tracking number. I think it's Sadam tactic to keep the police off of his back until he can make a decision.

Its almost impossible to have a unknown user anymore.. I've sold for years and know that for a fact.....
