seeking oak base for sda-srs

Hello,
I just noticed that my left sda-srs oak base plate has cracked across the width.
I believe that it is a cosmetic plate and the speaker will not suffer with it left on.
I had to replace a top plate almost 20 years ago due to humidity causing it to warp. Polk sent me a replacement for free under warranty.
Does anyone here have one laying around due to parting out or any reason? Or am i going to have to form one from oak myself?

The end caps for the SRS are made from glued up boards. They generally crack along a glue line and if that's the case with yours, remove the end cap, apply wood glue in the crack and clamp well.

Hi Scott,

I'm in the process of replacing the end caps on my SRS. My oak caps are in good shape no splitting and you could refinish them to make em shine. I'm changing the overall appearance of my SRS and I will not need them. If you give me a few weeks to finish the project, you can have em'. Let me know

Jesse, Mine were so warped that you could not glue them.

This a a great opportunity to make new ones like I did.

I didn't buy that piece, it's currently for sale on ebay. But it is a very nice piece, eventually I will redo my SRS 2's with something like that.

With some basic woordworking tools and skills it should be relatively easy to cut and finish a match for the original bases in some common hardwood. If you like the look of exotic hardwoods, like bubinga, a better option would be to use a high quality mdf as the base and veneer it with the wood of your choice. It's kind of a waste of a big slab of bubinga (and a lot of money) to use it as a solid piece.
