OK I am a bit slow to try things, like XM, I tried the little tuner for a week or so and sold it after 2-3 hours of trying it.
I get XM channels with Direct TV and have finally taken the time to try one channel that looked like something I wanted to hear, Channel 838 "Lucy", great alt rock station, plays alot of what I like and a few things I like that I never heard before.
Just wondering what other good choices are on XM, what do you like and what format is it?

I have it on Directv, and the channel that really peaked my interest was X Country.
It's like a genre of country/ rock, that you never hear on conventional rock stations.
Other than that, it's Bluesville, classic, pops, audiovisions.

XM 27 - Cinemagic
It's nothing but music from movies. If it was played in a movie, then you're bound to hear it. Usually they play a cut of dialog from the movie, then a song, more dialog, another song and once more.

I personally like XM Ethel, they play "new alternative." Death Cab for Cutie, Raconteurs, Black Mountain, Coldwar Kids, and 90s alternative songs occassionally. Only gripe i have is that occassionally the play list gets a little short and they play entirely too much White Stripes.. But i like the station enough i tolerate it =) About to get an XM receiver so i'll explore it more =) all suggestions welcome as far as i'm concerned too!

The Raconteurs are good when Jack White isnt whiny along with the rest of the band. I maintain the band would be better sans Jack, but i probably wouldnt have heard about them...
And arent Sirrius and XM planning to merge? making the choice moot? I like XM, but NBA basketball is broadcast on Sirrius =(

I am a Sirius subscriber and have been really happy with all of the stations they have. My main reason I went with Sirius is because of Howard Stern and the Stiletto 2 so I can take the sat radio with me when I ride my bike, go running, then have it flip over to WiFi when I dock it in my bedroom or living room.

I heard they were as well. I would like to get a player one of these days. That thing that you can take with you jogging and such sounds cool. Not sure if I would like to drop a monthly fee for radio, but maybe just maybe... How much is it anyway?

Me either, that is the other reason I got rid of the home tuner, but it is included with Direct TV so I got it.

I bet you pay for television tho'....if you want to stand up to the machine, stand up and wave your hands in the air, like you just don't care.

First That's COLD.
Why because I listen to those channels say 5% of the time. Where America Right gets 93% of the time, 2% for the XMComedy channel.

Top Tracks (XM 833 - good) and Big Tracks (837 - better) got a lot of airtime here initially, but became apparent that their playlists were not all that extensive.
Finally settled on Deep Tracks (XM 840). Cuts I had not heard in years/ decades. Plus there are three main DJ's (not counting regular stints by Bob Dylan and Tom Petty) add the right amount of talk and really know their stuff. And they spin "Fresh Tracks" every once in a while, so I got a dose of current material.
Give Deep Tracks a shot...
