Hi Guys
I am finally into separates, now my question is my HK pa5800 amp is humming. When i turn it on it has a loud hum then it goes lower but audible,it is from the amp not thru the speakers, when i first tried the amp with nothing connected to it to see if it worked there was only the start up hum, then it would go to a faint hum,now it has a louder hum,Would i be ruining any of my equipment.

You should have a tech look at your amp, if it's worth spending any money on. If not, time to shop for a replacement.

Hang on a second. What are you trying to power? What else is connected to the circuit leading to the circuit breaker? There could be something else [maybe not...maybe so] that could be the cause.

I have my mca30 amp on 1 outlet
then I have my monster 5100 line conditioner power surge,
ont the other the pa5800 amp is connected to the monster along with,tv,dvd player and subwoofer.
I unplugged the mca and connected the HK directly in 1 outlet same thing, but now my problem is worse,I woke up this morning and the amp is humming loudly while it is off?
I used it last night and no humming at all strange,
i am baffled?

Get a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter at Radio Shack & see if that takes care of it.

I also have a PA5800 and sometimes when you turn it on there is a brief hum and then it goes away. It lasts about a second but there is no hum after. I have heard that many people with this amp have the same turn on issue. I have it hooked up to a monster powerbar surge protector with clean stage 2. Again, it does not do it all the time but when it does, it only hums for a slight second.

Also, make sure that your RCA inputs and speaker output cables are not touching or resting on the power cable. This may cause the humming you are experiencing.

If you tried what cfrizz has suggested and it didn't help I'd follow F1nut's advice.

Well guys I did evrything you guys mentioned,I also brought the amp in cost me 45.00 and the amp is ok.
I plug it in at home I get a hum any where in the house.
Strange i have a brand new Anthem MCA30 and I have no problem. So I got so frustrated that I put the amp for sale.
