New preamp or Receiver?

Hey guy
My Carver CV-26 center output stop working, good reason to look at up grading my systems. I can get a Yamaha RX-V2300 for about $899 or the B&K Reference 30 for $1850 what would you guys do? What the report on Yamaha and Polk speaker?

I have the Ref 30 and ran my 2000's with it. IMO the 30 was the best purchase I've made yet. And I paid more than you. I really like the notch filters to adjust for my room. I'm considering trading in for the Ref 50. Christmas is here, so I'll have to wait. I also like the osd on the 30 simple and some of the sub menus for room equalization are easy to use. I don't know amout the Yamaha, just the 30, go for it! Gordo

If your current amp is a multichannel amp, why not go with a dedicated Pre-amp instead. Think of it this way, why spend the cash on a receiver when all you need is the pre-amp portion anyway.

I have an RX-V2300 powering a set of SDA-2As and am very pleased.

new or used (as long as it works) atleast 5.1, and enough outs where i can plug all my junk up to it (preferably adcom, amc, or nad, or even rotel)

Too late I suppose, but I would have gone with the Outlaw preamp/processor. Right at a grand but would have been perfect since the amplification was not an issue.
