Hey guys. I got a pair of SDA SRS 2.3's that i'm pretty happy with but I came across a deal that's hard to refuse. I can get a pair of used Legacy Whispers in Rosewood for $2990 shipped! It comes with the matching processor. Those things are like $17K new right now and cheapest on audiogon is $6.5K. I was leary of the seller but he said he would ship first and I can pay him after 5 day inspection period.

Anybody listen to them before? They each have like (4) 15" woofers but since it's free-air they are not too bass heavy.

Should I jump on this? They are so gorgeous!

A friend owns a pair of Legacy Audio Focus (smaller model I think), and they are great speakers, but they demand so much power of a good amp...

I used to own a pair of Focus which are truly 'full range' speakers...I auditioned a pair of Whispers in Houston when Bill Dudleston brought them there for a limited open audition. These are truly magnificent speakers without a weakness in any area. Beautiful speakers as well. A definite step up (in my opinion) to the SDA and welllllll worth the price being asked. I'll take 'em if you decide they don't suit your purposes....:)

I'm gonna go ahead with the deal. I figure I can't go wrong. It will be interesting comparison to my 2.3's.

I spent some time yesterday reading up on these, and I think I would give them a shot too for that price. Let us know how it goes...and take pics :D

Well guys it looks like it was all a scam. I had a feeling and would never had sent payment until I actually saw the merchandise. He just sent me an email about shipping-freight with a shipping company from Romania. I did a WHOIS search on the domain and it was just registered a month ago. Oh well. At least i'm not out any money.

Here's the email he sent:

Hello

I have completed the shipment. I shipped the package with Canton Freight

Here are the details

www.canton-freight.ro

tracking: xxxxx
Date: 05142008

you need to complete a payment deposit of $2,990.00 in order to release the package. You can find all payment details on the tracking page. Do not hesitate to contact me in case you have any questions

Just goes to show..............if it's too good to be true; it probably is. Good thing no actual money changed hands.

Exactly. You gotta ask your seller what motivates him to act against his self interest. It does happen (divorce, illness, bankruptcy, gambling debts, etc.) but never to me.

I did have a guy offer to sell me his watch because he said he wanted buy a hooker. Gotta respect that.
