What are some of your favorite fairly new jazz titles?
Here's one that I've fallen in love with.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to pick it up for sure. I just got into listening to Ramsey Lewis & he is awesome. I'm really getting into this type of music.

You like Ramsey try Young-Holt Ltd. Maybe Eddie Harris & Les McCann too.
Ramsey was a big part of my dad's listening. All the old ones on Argo.

Thanks GG. I'll have to pick up some of their stuff. I love listening to new material from artists that I haven't heard yet.

This isn't "new" but it is a new compilation - released earlier this year - of some of the most popular and most sampled tunes in the blue note library. For some youngsters this will help bridge the gap between jazz and the hip-hop and other music in the 80's and 90's - which used samples from these tracks - that you grew up with. For the mature folks, it's just an excellent compilation of original tunes that is sure to bring back some memories and get your foot tappin'.

You didn't have to work too hard to listen to Ramsey Lewis. He didn't try to bowl you over as a piano virtuoso. He just wanted to get your feet moving and THAT he was good at.
