Indy 4

Ok how many of you went to the midnight show of Indy 4,I did. What is your opinion of it.Not giving away anything but I think they waited to long to bring this one out.

Ya think???? He's 65 freakin years old! Now I love the guy but he is just a little too old for playing the lead in A/A movies. Same goes for Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery, & a whole slew of others!

The main problem I had with Indy 4, was the story, it gets pretty weak in the middle, I'd have to say even boarder line boring, my wife dozed off twice when we saw it yesterday, but to the films credit that happens with alot of movies. The ending, I wont give anything away, It just didn't fit in an Indiana Jones movie, in my opinion anyway.

This is one that if I'm bored I'll catch in the theater, if not, I'll wait for the Indy Blu-ray 4-disc set that I'm sure we'll see when this is ready to hit the store shelves.

Leave this one on the shelf folks... not worth the price of admission. The story was so far-fetched, it wasn't even enjoyable! Our entire group was laughing, and at all the wrong places.

Harrison did look pretty good for an old guy, and the kid did a great job as well, but the entire plot was ludicrous.

Save your money here.

Most reviews I've read put this is better then #2 but not as good as #3. Of course I didn't think #3 was much better, if any, then #2 so....

Just got back from seeing it with the wife and we were both entertained. It had the typical humor, action, etc. Story was far-fetched, but who cares? We both enjoyed it.

Went to see this one last night and I cant recommend it for anything other then picking it up as a "previously viewed" sale at Blockbusters.

The story was so convoluted and hard to follow that by the end of the movie youre still going, "huh?" Nothing made any real sense and nothing was really explained.

Ford did a great job and played the part just fine despite his age.

The kid was kind of annoying and I kept wondering what he was doing in the film at all.

There were no real characters to get into and enjoy like in the other movies either.

The special effects were top notch tho but the action sequences were a little over the top and downright cheesey at times.

In the end, I do not recommend paying full price admission for this but rather wait for it to hit the cheap rentals. It doesnt suck - but when its part of the chain that claims Raiders of the Lost Arc which is possible the best movie ever, it falls well short.

i saw it over the holiday weekend and i was not impressed with indy 4....theater was half full/empty...i would tell my friends, do not pay full $10.75 for it

I have to say I really enjoyed it but if you were not a fan of the originals you probably won't like it. The story was very much like the originals

They explained everything in the movie. it was a very typical Indiana Jones movie with how the story moved along (being thrown into a situation the audience knows nothing about, discussion of past events we had no knowledge of to give us clues, etc).
The kid was kind of annoying and I kept wondering what he was doing in the film at all. At first I felt the same way but looking at the time period and the story, it made perfect sense. He was dressed and acted like you would have thought someone in the 50s would have acted like and the way the story played out it worked well.

Though, I honestly thought a different actor would have been better. No offense to him but it just didn't feel right.

What do you mean? They had multiple characters but the real focus was on a family of characters.

Went in expecting something along the lines of Raiders or Last Crusade but ended up watching something closer to The Mummy Returns which I liked but it wasn't quite up to par with an Indy flick. The flick did show flashes of brilliance.

Too much CGI like watching the CGI Stormtroopers on the newer Star Wars vs growing up with live actors in Stormtrooper armour. The CGI too away a bit of authenticity to the flick, that sand in your pants type of feel from the original.

I wish this thread was a spoiler thread, because as a big Dr Jones fan, there was alot of crap in that movie I would like to talk about.

The CGI was ridiculous. Lucas and Spielberg do not make a good couple anymore, they need to divorce........ for life.

I guy fell asleep 2 rows down from us, I didnt blame him. I almost walked out, to go see Narnia.

I wanted my kids to have that same feeling as I had when I was young, watching Dr Jones for the first time. They were very disapointed. I think I ruined it for them by watching the original 3 a billion times.

And Mac your right, after the first 10 minutes with LeBouf, I was hoping he would die. But to have the Transformers apear in this movie, would not have been too far fetched.

I saw it on Monday evening. I thought it was entertaining.

Sure, there were some totally unrealistic aspects that were somewhat silly, but, overall, good action, good comedy. The plot, while overall a pretty decent / cool concept, I felt had a bunch of holes in the middle of the movie.

The Russians wanted it as it was supposed to be a weapon of mind control. . . and Indy was supposed to be able to see / control things after he stared at the skull. . . but those plot lines were never developed or even brought up after they initially happened.

OK, what was most stupid was the whole aliens thing going on. Indiana Jones and aliens aint a good mix. It would be like a movie of Anakin Skywalker wandering thru the jungle looking for a treasure. It doesnt fit.

For the story, the Lost Arc and Last Crusade had great stories and kept you into them by little clues that you had to find and figure out to lead you to the next part. Like a video game. This one didnt. And as far as it making sense: lets see, some aliens came down to the Amazon 10,000 years ago and gave the natives some great technology (although its basically stone age technology), then built a great big thing-a-ma-jig that goes between dimensions but before they could use it they all died sitting in those chairs and apparently somebody took one of their skulls and hid it in a crypt. So this one guy found the skull, it made him crazy so he took it back to the crypt. Now Jones finds it and when its returned to the rest of the skeleton, all the other skeletons join together and it makes one live alien that bursts you into flames for your reward then it takes off.

Ill say again - huh? Maybe Im just not smart enough to understand it.

The whole Shia Lawhoever was also a downer. If theyre going to get somebody to take over one of the role of one of the greatest action heroes ever, how about not having him look like a girl......with a girls name. Watching a guy that looks like him act like Willy Whipass was just too much. None of the characters had much in this film. No great bad guys like in the first one. No great good guys like in Last Crusade. Just this stupid kid, what essentially was a cameo apperancce for Marion and thats it. The Russian chick didnt really do anything for me either.

Dont get me started on the whole swinging thru the trees thing with the monkeys following.

I also had a problem with them escaping from the Russians....only to get caught by them in the next scene...about 5 different times.

I didnt have a problem with the CGI. Well done CGI looks more realistic than other types of special effects to me and I thought these were all well done. And there was plenty of action. Almost too much. The story never really developed, it was just one chase scene to the next with each one becoming a little more fantastic.

Dont get me wrong, it wasnt a sucky movie - but when it carries the name of Indiana Jones it had better live up to the name and this one didnt by a long shot.

The originals were plays on 30s serials... so it made perfect sense to have the new one play off 50s red scare/alien paranoia, considering it has been 20 years. I enjoyed it. Not saying it didn't have problems ('cause using the skull to solve every problem was kinda' weak and hell, you might as well have been rooting for Cate Blanchett) but I got what I expected from an Indy flick.
