I'll check and see if I can dig up the DSP update disc that I burned a few months ago. If I can, I'll drop it in the mail to you.

Thanks millerman,Integra suggested when I called them that I send it to a service center & let them up-date it,I may do that.I looked at avs forum & theres so many of them I dont know which one I need. I guess I need to one for my 805 & one for 9.8 When I try to go to one of the sites at avs I get some kind of rapid share place???

What firmware update did they say you need? I have v1.08 that I could email to you if you'll PM me your email address. It's simple to do as everything is in the files explaining it.

My bad. I was thinking the DSP upgrade for the DTC9.8 was the same as the SR805, but now I see they are not. Sorry dude.

You can use a DVD player just as well as a CD player. The only condition is that the player is connected via optical to Opt1 input. Many people have used their dvd players to update the DSP.
The trick is to get a good burn onto the cd. It has to be recorded as an audio cd, not a data cd. Do it at a slow burn speed. Make sure DVD is set to eliminate all audio manipulation. Another trick is to play a regular CD first (just for 30 seconds or so) to get the receiver in PCM receiving mode. Then put the update disc in and follow the directions.

Here is a quoted post on another forum that used a ps3 to do the update. Haven't tried it myself. But it's certainly possible with the equipment you have.
Successfully updated my 605 yesterday evening using my 60GB PS3. I had tried using and older RCA DVD player and a new LG DVD player with no luck. Decided to give the PS3 a try and it worked. Not sure if all of these steps are required but I unplugged the HDMI cable coming from the PS3 out of the input on the back of the receiver and went straight to the TV. Optical cable from PS3 into Optical 1 on the back of the Onkyo. Under the PS3 audio settings (I think?) I unchecked all of the manual HDMI audio settings I could. Changed to optical output and unchecked all the boxes except for the 2 channel options. The optical ouput type I made sure was set to PCM. I think this setting is under optical output audio type or something like that. PS3 is updated to latest firmware. Played 15 sec. track and then receiver switched to writing and after about 20 seconds or so it completed, reset, and went into standby. Powered on 605 and checked DSP and it was the one I had burned onto the CR-RW. Hope this helps.

I burned I think the file that avguytx emailed me ,I burned it a 4x speed & it only took a minute or so.So I ejected the cd from computer, put it back in & it showed the file.Did I do it correct??Im a little nervous trying it on the 9.8!

It should play as an audio CD, you can test that before doing any updating. Turn your volume very low first.
What did you use to burn it? Media player does not usually work, use something like Nero.

You should not see the "file", you should see an audio track. It has to be burned as an audio CD, not data. Use Nero. You can download a trial version that will let you burn discs.
Don't worry about doing this. Its virtually impossible to 'brick' the unit by this CD method. It will either take or it won't. If you do get the upgrade to go, be prepared to fully run your setup again. The DSP update wipes out everything!

If I put this burned cd in a cd player what am I supposed to hear?

It will sound like three buursts of noise, about 20 seconds each if I recall. Like I said, put the volume very low.
It won't hurt to try the CD, the update won't happen unless you put the 9.8 in update mode.

It will sound kinda like a dial up modem sound or fax machine. Digital noise basically.
