Right now I am looking for a receiver to power my RTi8(front) RTi6(rear) set up.
I have been looking at refurbished equipment and saw that i can get a marantz 5001 or a HK AVR 347 for about the same price any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help

Both Marantz and HK make nice receivers. They sound similar, so i would buy for features that fit your needs. Video switching is a big thing for some, but not others. Preamp outputs for external amps down the road is a smart feature to look for etc.

Do your research carefully and buy enough receiver to last awhile, since upgrading gets expensive from the depreciation of new gear.

Welcome to the Club Polk Forums!! Take the advice from another Schwartz (me:)) and buy the Marantz. I think Accessories4less.com has refurbished units. Good luck with your selection!

I listed to various models of both makes, and even though I prefer HK with my RT speakers (softer sound), I think that Marantz is a better choice... :o
