I am considering a Monster Power model MPA2250SS amp to push my RTi12's in the front.
Now I know it is not an exotic name like Adcom or Parasound or the others, but what I am wondering is, is it a high quality unit?
Blast away fellow Polk lovers....
Warm regards from too F*ckin HOT Vegas

Is it hot enough for you? ( I hate that question. "Hell no, can we raise it another 30 degrees?")

Never heard the Monster line of amps. Get one and let us know what its all about.

If you do a search on this forum their was a Polkie (can't remember who) that did a side by side and the Monster did really good according to his wright-up.

I heard one and thought it was icky, too harsh and grainy for me, if you really like your treble hot then it may fit what you need. ScottVamp who used to hang here loved the things, so it always a subjective thing, btw I think they cost more or the same as the Parasound or NAD or Adcom.

My favs are are the B&K, NAD, and Parasound.

I have an Adcom GFA-555 that has been modded up for sale here. Plenty cheap enough that would push those with no problem.

If I recall correctly, those are just a re-badged Marsh power amp. They were a pricey at MSRP, but could be had cheap on the used market.

Not rebadged in any way shape or form. They were Richard Marsh designs(or based on his designs) but a far cry from the Marsh line of amps.

EDIT: I'll add that because the March line of amps are better doesn't mean the Monster amps aren't any good. When they first came out they were, IMO, horribly overpriced but on the used market you do get a decent amp for not a lot of money. I think it would be best suited in an HT environment. As RT says they are a bit "hot" up top so they may not play well with your RTi's but give em a try to see. You could do a lot worse.

Monster has a solid rep and a good product. Compare the specs and dont let a name fool you into thinking that it can produce better sound because of the brand.

I can say that I love mine, however I haven't really compaired it to much else except some outlaw monoblocks (which i also liked) It weighs a ton puts out alot of juice and isnt to bad if you can find one below msrp.

IIRC, the, or some of, Monster amps were Marsh designs that were built for Monster by Rockford Fosgate, utilizing components and parts specified by Monster. So the circuit design may be Marsh, but if you believe things like the quality of the wire, caps, resistors, connectors, etc. make a difference, then the sound signature would not be the same.

That said, at the last IL Polkfest I believe that Mike was using Monster amps to power his LSi HT, and it sounded pretty good. Or maybe it just felt pretty good? It was hard to distinguish between sound and vibration at some points
