newbie needs lots of help

I am just starting my 1st home theatre setup and lost. Have a polk psw550,onkyo rec., and american accoustic front, center, and rears, with a dvd,sat, and vhs, also cd but got that part figured out. can anyone explain all this foriegn material to me....lol:lol:

Speaker wire to the speakers, to the receiver

Cables to the VCR/CD PLAYER/ DVD PLAYER, yellow with yellow, red with red, white with white..i think thats what ur asking...

Your gonna have to be a lot more specific about the term "Foriegn material"
There is a myriad of types of cables, connectors, hook up philosophies and such.
