hey, i just got a pair of what i think is a set of monitor 12s, one 12 inch woofer, 4 6 1/2 inch and 1 tweeter off epray for $86 plus shipping which is a bit but thats to be expected because i live out in the middle of nowhere, they have a blown tweeter that i will replace, i cant seem to find much info on them and i know nothing about polk speakers, but i am learing more and more everyday from you guys, i just thought they looked good. what tweeters can i use? and did i get polked or did i just get poked if you know what i mean? oops i should have put this in vintage speakers, i forgot where i was, sorry

post a picture of them with the grills off or a link to where we can see them... that will help tell us which tweeter is in them.

You can use the RDO198 in that speaker. The stock ones are SL2500's. Good find.
Enjoy

thanks, i love vintage speakers, they give me that warm fuzzy feeling. i can rebuild the cabinets if needed and over time replace any drivers if needed, im pretty good at woodworking as i build houses for a living and have all the tools needed. im courious to hear how they stack up aginst my bose 901s that i have had for many many years, they sound great but i think im just getting tired of looking at them, and besides im a polkie now.
I would pick up a pair of replacements, so both speakers sound the same. When you call Polk, tell them you're a Club Polk member and you'll receive a discount.

hey guys. i got those monitor 12s today, now to order the RDO198s, would have done it sooner but bills have to come first, i hooked them up to see if all the drivers work, they do, im guesing the 12 inch are passive, would i be right? the one sounds good, the other tweeter is silent. will the RDO198s be an exact fit? and the SL2500 seems to be lacking, maybe its just worn out , i hope the new ones sound better. the grills are shot maybe i can replace them if not i guess they will have to be naked which is ok because i think they look good. i think im really going to like them. i also picked up a pair of SDA-CRS with the interconnect cable, other sets i have seen have one tweeter but this set has two, whats up with that? and are they any good? thanks to all for sharing your wisdom.

The outer is a dimensional tweeter. I had SDA's with them. Try disconnecting the dimensional tweeter, and I think you will like the SQ much more. It will sound a little low on the highs, but simple resistor change will get things in order.

so i should unhook the outside tweeter? and as far as the resistor change goes you will have to school me on that, i dont have a clue on where or which, if you could be so kind as to tell me how to do it i would be very gratefull, the SDAs will be here tommorow. thank you.
