I was just attempting gauge feedback from anybody who has compared Polk RTi10's directly against the Polk Monitor 10b's?

I "upgraded" my 10b's to the RTi10's a year ago. I got caught up in HT, and very recently returned to 2 channel hi-fi out of boredom.

Is it just me or do the RTi10's struggle in the mid-range?

I assumed it was the AV receiver as I read all these great reviews about RTi10's. I purchased an Accuphase E205 amplifier and added a Ortofon Rhondo Blue MC to my Rega 3 TT.

Much to my dismay the RTi10's still struggle to deliver in the mid-range and the top end can be overly bright. The bass has really tightened up with the Accuphase amp and Rhondo Blue MC, quite good actually!

To me it seems the 10b's were dynamic and revealing in the midrange, power efficient and very crisp in the top end. I can accept I made an error in judgement with the RTi10's, it just burns me up that I practically gave away my 10b's during the "upgrade!"

Cheers.

I haven’t compared them against the monitor but I have nothing to complaint about my Rti10 except that they can be a little bit bright with some CDs. I’m using HK receiver (avr 8000).

I have quite a bit of experience with the Monitor 10's, but no direct comparison time with anything other than the RTi6's. What I have noticed in the time I have spent with the larger RTi speakers is that they seem to sound very contrained in the mid-range compared to a much larger soundstage the Monitor 10's can produce. I also prefer the mid-range and solid bass of the Monitor 10's.

Hi Parachoute;895770, I envy you! I have given away listening to CD's with the RTi10's as I found it too bright in the top end, almost cringing in antipation of some upcoming passages of music, despite alternating different CD players. But it is all subjective and to personal taste. Thanks for your comments. Cheers.

Hi, I agree with your comments 100%. The 10's are a true hi-fi speaker and the RTi10's are a very good HT speaker, which would account for 10's having such a great sound stage. Unfortunately I prefer two channel hi-fi to HT.

Thanks for your comments. Cheers.

May I ask the kind of music you listen to?
