I dont know about all tweeter stores but the one in Belir has LSI15's for 999 a pair new.

From what I've read on various places on the web, the Pios don't play well with 4-ohm speakers, they like to go into protection mode, and shut down. You might be able to get away with bi-amping, if it's changing it to an 8-ohm load.

Sounds like a good price for the 15's though, but I'd look for some separate amplification, with the savings.

I would not worry about clipping as much as just driving your amp into protection mode. With low impedance loads, it may demand more current than your AVR can supply driving it into protection even at lower volumes or when crossed over to a sub.

You can try it, but be prepared to get an amp.

great price on the 15's, I wonder if they are clearing them out at your tweeter store. Take a listen to the Cambridge Audio gear at Tweeter and see how they mate with the 15's.

my lsi9 hook to rotel amp(ra1070/100wpc)and it is realy great match.
my rti6 hook to nad c372 and the sound is good. iam a stereo fan and i think that the rti7s are realy great speakers. but on top of all i know that my lsi9s are realy the best of the best.

Hi Frank. I just recently purchased a pair of LSi15s and am very happy with them. My yamaha amp can be switched from 4 to 8 ohm but I have it set to 8 ohm now and the speakers and amp are fine. Biamping will not change the output impedance of your receiver. Running speakers in parallel or in series will however change their input impedance....but who wants to do this. As a general rule it is always better to try to match imput impedance with output impedance. I am getting a new amp this next week and from what i have been gathering these speakers are good with a receiver but shine with a high power amp. I wil be seeing for myself next week. I say get the speakers now and you can always add an amp later....lots of good amps for $200-$300 here.

I have a Pioneer VSX94TXH and bi-amp my front LSi15's, they sound fantastic with never a hint of clipping.

Thanks Frank

Congratulations on getting the LSi15's. They are awesome speakers in my opinion. I think your fiancee will apreciate the sound from quality speakers. I like the clarity of sound that those speakers provide.

I've run LSi25 and LSi15's on a Pioneer VSX-1014TX in my livingroom. Changing the front speaker connections to biamp definitely cured it from going into protection mode at high volumes such as the THX opening on the StarWars videos. So bi-amping worked for me in this case.

I eventually did get an external amp with over 200 wpc to maximize the sound perfomance of these awesome speakers in a large room.

I still run my LSi15's off a Pioneer VSX-1018AX in the master bedroom. I'll eventually install a separate amp, but the sound perfomance is still pretty good at the lower volumes in a smaller room.

The point is that they will run satisfactorily off a good Pioneer AVR such as the Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS and bi-amping can prevent the receiver from going into protection mode from my experience.
