Hi there

I am designing an enclosure for my MM120 sub. My system is being built for SQ rather than SPL.

As such, I was considering making the sub enclosure bigger than the recommended 0.88 cuft, and more like 1.2 cuft (sealed). The sub will see about 500 WRMS, but I don't plan on cranking it hard.

Any thoughts on this enclosure in terms of SQ pros and cons?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Not gonna do it, bad idea!! The reason is because the cone displacement is increased when the wrong size enclosure is used.
These drivers have a high cone displacement and this is why
they are intended to be used in small sealed enclosures. You need the smaller sealed enclosure to act as a "excursion-regulator" to prevent over excursion when being played at higher listening levels. In a enclosure of this size, ( 1.2 cubic feet )
you can damage the drivers' suspension. (ie. surround and spider ) Plus there is a reduction in efficiency too. Who says
"Bigger is always better" ??

Happy Listening!!
