Whoooooooooooo Doggies!
I've just upgraded most of my system. I now have:
Marsh A200s amp
Adcom GFP 710 preamp
NAD C521Bee (still around)
Aerial Acoustics Model 6 speakers
How do I like it? Oh man! I swear - I think someone came into my house and re-mastered all of my cds! I cannot believe how much better everything - everything - sounds! (Well, everything except anything that was really poorly recorded:o). Every voice and every instrument is so unbelievably clear!
On some songs that I've heard perhaps 100 times, I've heard voices and instruments that I've never heard before. And on well recorded music, I am absolutely stunned by how incredibly great everything sounds.
If you've ever watched a movie that had been restored from the original, that's how my recordings now sound. There is amazing depth, richness and balance.
I've still got a ways to go - more tweaks. My speaker wire is 20 year old Monster and my speakers like to be bi-wired. My cdp will get upgraded after that, followed by my pre and that "ought to do it." Famous last words.
Anyway, I'm just blown away by how good my system now sounds. I owe Sean (Zero) a debt of gratitude for sending me in the direction of the Marsh & Aerials. Thanks again!

Glad to hear. My system is going through changes, and my good recordings sound better, but the bad ones sound worse:(

Doesn't it feel great? I'm glad you are moving closer to your nirvana.
Don't make any hasty decisions on speakers cables. Take your time, do some research and most importantly try cables, two different brands at a time, that give 30 day money back guarantees.

Look a this! That's a fine looking speaker. What kind of music do you listen to? I bet it's great for Rock and Blues.

Yep, those are the speakers! Mine are waaaay nicer looking as they're in a rose walnut wood that is just gorgeous. At least I think they're prettier anyway.
I listen to just about everything and, so far, everything sounds great. & Yeah, the lousy recordings sound waaaaaay worse. Really bad. But the good recordings - ooh baby! - they sound incredible! Absolutely amazing.
& Thanks for the advice on the speaker wire, Joe!
Arg! I posted some pics of my system on another thread "This Zero is a Ten" and yet I can't get the search function to find the thread! Below is a pic that the seller took of the speakers. They're not shiny as they look, but they sho is purty!

Absolutely Gorgeeeeoooouuussss Preacher I'm really happy you are on your way and I give big kudos to Sean (Zero) for really helping you out; that's what this club is all about.
You will find down the road that you can pick and tweak your gear to be more forgiving of the lousy recordings. For instance my tube CD player, I did some tube rolling and found that some NOS Jan 6922s (thanks Beardog)sounded glorious with good and great recordings; a bonus was that it made the lousy recording more tolerable too. Stay away from stuff like Krell and clinical gear like that if you wish to go the route I did and went for a more forgiving rig.
I have MIT MH 750 Shotgun biwire speaker cables on my rig and I love them. You can get speaker cables used here (http://www.usedcables.com/index.html) w/30 day money back guarantees to get an idea of which ones your amp and speakers are going to synergize with. I prefer to buy used cables from people I know but this site has guarantees so I don't see the harm is trying them out.
Good luck and happy listening. BY THE WAY, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO SPRING FOR A TURNTABLE???:D;):p

Ok, thanks to Joe I've found the pics. Nothing impressive - unless you're me! I think I still have a bit of tweaking to do. I don't think I've found optimum speaker placement yet as the imaging of the speakers - supposed to be phenomenal - aint there yet.
Thanks also Joe for the speaker wire link. I'll check it out. Buying new isn't really an option for me - I'm still "Bottomfeeder" afterall - so the link is really appreciated. & About that turntable...don't know! As you can see from the pics, I'd have to buy a new stand, something that should be done anyway.
But I really need some new music. Most of my stuff is years old. I'm not really sure to begin. I like a lot of music - rock, blues, jazz etc.
& Thanks, Ricardo, for telling me that I can stop now. Having read your audio journey, I'm wondering if you're swallowing your OWN advice! :D
At some point, I plan on replacing my cdp & pre amp. From what I've heard, those seem to be holding the amp and speakers back. I'm willing to take donations...
By the way, if you want to see more pics, check out the link in Hearing's post. I tried to pull the pics from the link and add them here, but it wouldn't let me! Arg!
Whoa! Checked out the used wire link - there is speaker wire that sells for $22,000??? Unbelievable!

Very, very nice. I love those speakers. Get you some Kimber 8TC speaker cable and be done with it.
