I am getting a tumor just thinking about it. We should try stuff like that in some 3rd world country where the people don't matter so much.
Ben
Well, that'd be one less cable debate.

Someone has to put in the hours for inventing wireless electricity. :p
Janey works the nights bro. I don't crash normally until she gets in.

Tesla was doing that a hundred years ago!

I thought the same thing. :D
But opens up a whole new can of worms.
"Which power transmitters and receivers are best?"

My wireless electric toothbrush charges without metal on metal contact.

No, this is going to be a good thing. Since it works on magnetic principles, and we'll have a permanent magnetic field going through us, think about all the money people are going to save on those bogus magnetic pain braclets people buy.
Maybe this'll finally cure the the arthitis I have in my ankle. ;)
With all the MRI's I've had, what's the difference. :)

Dude,
Thanks for the laugh. My coffee tastes much different after going through my nose.

Is this an April fools joke?
What about Wireless Electric Cars?, NO MORE GAS!!!!!
Think About it, All Electric Cars, that cost 2 cents a mile!!!
Is this an April fools joke?
No, we depend on you for those. :D
My first thought was, "is this off The Onion?".

He sure was...Tesla kicked serious ass...especially when he handed Edison his ass with AC power distribution.

Welcome to the wonderful world of induction.
Ever notice a transformer transmits power wirelessly? Not far, but it does.

What happened to the link? It says lost page and I'm interested in this technology for a project I'm working on. Anybody?

Man, you wasted your 5000th post on that? Congrats on 5000!

Eh, posts schmosts. The post count means nothing to me but thanks for noticing. I'm more interested in the technology.

There are a few options:
1) non-resonant induction: a primary coil generates a field and the secondary uses the field to generate a current. i.e. a transformer, or to temper steel in manufacturing. Works great and is simple but has a very limited range.
2) resonant induction: do your own research. It has extended range over non-resonant, but we're still talking like a foot or two max.
3) microwaves: nothing new, same tech as in the 1960's. Obviously not everyone is equally impressed when you say your transmitting a kilowatt of power in a microwave beam. I personally don't want to be cooked alive.
4) lasers: it's hard to make an efficient laser, but it does work very well. The beam stays concentrated, has huge range, and the receiver can be a simple solar cell. Since all the energy is a single color, the photovoltaic cell design becomes easier. Again, lasers waste a lot of juice.
I'll stick to wires and wait for room temp superconductors to come along and make my life better.

This link had a video along with some very important points. Like being able to power your laptop, TV and all remotes off of one central power "center", all wirelessly. The technology has been proven to provide as much current as needed, but with the advantage of it being safe.
I may be mistaken and this might have been on another forum or another link I have lost somewhere in the depths of my 'pooter but I damn sure would like to know where to find it again.

You might want to look it up again and make sure it isn't a line of sight thing.
Through walls, the options are limited to radio and microwaves. Even then, 'pointing' the receiver and transmitter is the challenge.
