And now I got it....:D

It's very interesting to see the RTi8's in many different configurations:

1. I've had it hooked up to a single Yamaha AVR - sounded good - a little bright and you could hear the AVR's lack of power

2. Bi-wired - I felt it had a little better clarity but lacked power as stated in #1

3. Bi-Amped - 2 very similar AVR's (both Yamaha's 100wpc) - sounded much better. The 8's sounded much better when being pushed hard. Still a little bright for me, but I could adjust it a little (2 bass and treble control as well as a level control).

4. Adcom 555 - these things are on a different level now!! You can really hear the power shine through in the 8's. The bass is outstanding from these little guys. The clarity is phenominal. The highs don't seem nearly as bright.

Bottom line....if I change my system one more time in the next month, my wife will kill me :D I LOVE IT!!!

#4 I'd say no $hit, but that would not be nice;)

several AVR's from Denon to Rotel and NAD. None of them will drive all channels to the rated power. Most will drive 2 or 3 but not 4 or 5. The power supplies are lacking. Also the FTC doesn't require manufacturers to "guarantee" the rated power to all channels at once. I am not at all surprised the Adcom sounds better. It has a real power supply that doubles power output from 8 to 4 ohms.

It's a slippery slope..... I started out about the same and look at my signature now.....I still have a ways to go compared to some around here, but my periods of happiness with my system at any particular moment between upgrades are becoming more stretched out.

Glad to hear the Adcom is putting a smile on your face. Did you try it on the JBL's yet?

I have not...but tomorrow will be the test. I have a bunch of old college friends coming into town. We will be pre/post partying at my house. I'll be hooking up the JBL's for that and am really looking forward to see how they sound. If anyone is unfamiliar with them, here they are (I'm not selling mine though):

WOW!! I actually like the way my JBL's sounded more than the RTi8's. The highs weren't as bright (sounded very warm). Bass was amazing - definetely didn't need a sub playing with these.

AND BOY DID THEY GET LOUD - still sounded very clear detailed
