Connecting my sub with the Polk Surround Bar

Hi,

I just need some clarification. I'm connecting a sub to go with my Surround Bar. The instructions recommend not connecting the sub to the sub out from the receiver. Do I disconnect the front left and right inputs from the surround bar and connect them to the sub? Or do I leave those connected to the surround bar and get additional speaker wire and add those to the left and right outputs of the receiver and connect to the sub?

I have the original Polk Surround Bar and am connecting to the PSW10. Any other suggestions to tweek the setup would also be appreciated.

yes, I remember something about the filter on the surround bar with that recommendation from Polk. You can just run the wire from the receiver to the sub then back out of the sub to the surround bar F r/l. Set your Sub crossover point and volume. Set the receiver to Sub=No

That method of Sub connection is referred to as the Polk way round here.

Do you have a subwoofer output on your AVR? Can you adjust the cutoff frequency in your menu? I'd use the output if at all possible. The "Polk" way is about 5 years overdue for deletion but that's just my opinion.

The receiver I'm using is the Harmon Kardon AVR 347. It does have a sub output, not sure if I can adjust the cutoff frequency.
