? sub amp upgrade for SRT's

Hi guys,

Who can recomend sub amp upgrades for SRT's that can be used in 240v in New Zealand.

This means the power cord will need to be removable and able to be switched from 110 to 220-240v.

Would be happy for it to be a high powered 2 channel amp that runs them both or plate type amps that can be put into the back of the subs themselves.

I know there are a lot of brands over there we dont really get to hear a lot about and although it has been a while since I have been an active member of club polk (started a family and took on management role at work - everything else got put on the back burner) I know you guys have a lot of knowledge and have helped out so much in the past.

Wanting to get back into it and have a bit of a mix up with the system.

There is a sunfire cinema grand 200w x 5 over here but it has a hum in the rear channel that makes me think twice about purchasing (and I am not even sure if they can be bridged)

Thanks for the tips, all brands I am not that familiar with, certainly like the look of the emotiva (apart from all the lights that is), I was thinking about a Verastarr but doubt the mrs will let me spend that much.

Has anyone the emotiva for SRT subs and if so is there much gain with them. I have been using NAD 218 in mono to run sub and have been very impressed, it has alas been sent away for repair and I am wondering if the load is too much for it as I bypassed the srt control unit using a custom made one that doesn't have a low pass filter in it.

Emotiva amps have low gain.

sorry, should have been clearer, by gain I meant better performance vs the standard 300watt amps the SRT subs have.

The nad 218 thx amp is well suited for the srt subs.
I had both the 208 and the 218 powering my srt at one time.
My nad amplifiers are in storage now.

The emotiva amps are extremely quiet. They're neutral. not analytical.
They add nothing to the sound. They don't sound warm and laid back like the 218.

wow, two great amps in storage, wish I had those problems.........

Agree, the 218 is such a great amp, if I could find a second one I would take that option, a pity NAD dropped that level from the range.

I used to have a lot of freedom on the HT system but now that I am married, morgaged and have a baby it is hard to get the upgrades I am wanting but certainly miss having a play around. Still begging the mrs for the verastarr so will see how that pans out but I am not holding my breath on that one.

thanks again for the help and idea's. That emotive amp certainly has some impressive specs for a great price. I guess you can get away with a bit less finese with the subs.

Well, the mrs let me get the verastarr 6.4, should be here monday.:D

I am as excited as a schoolboy in a candy store, can't wait to fire the SRTs up running the subs, sda and stereo arrays out of the 6 channels.

Thanks for the advice, still really liked the look of a couple of them but the 6 channels makes it too easy to 'fit' my needs and I have read some pretty good stuff about the quality of them not to mention how great they sound.

Sold the 218 though, sorry to see it go, one of the best amps I have had the pleasure of owning to be honest.
