I was just thinking the same thing. Aren't powered towers out of fashion, so to speak, or do they have their uses?

Because I've heard them in person and they are amazing speakers. But what I've come to realize via this forum is that I'm a 2 channel SDA-SRS kinda guy. So I'll need to amend my grail quest to the SDA-SRS 22.3TL's. I owe it all you polk fourm gods!!! I couldn't have done it without you. THANKS!!!

Thanks for catching that Bizill, I meant the sds-srs 2.3TL's. There'll always be a soft spot in my heart for the RT3000P's, though.

SRT is the best of RT meets active SDA. Kind of sounds like the path Polk is on now for the reference stuff - no big monoliths, but plenty of good sound.

I'd love to have a pair of 3000's setup here. Best I've been able to do locally are some RT20P's, and they haven't gone, and aren't going anywhere, anytime soon.

I'm a fan of the rt3000p's. I would love to set up a full 3000 system. O the rt20p's, I remember them. I checked them out when I picked up my rt1000p's.

I would like to pick up a mint pair of Ls90's or the rt12's. I have always liked them( I had the rt10's but they where not the same)

Dan, how is that crackpot liv4fam anyway? My first 'retail' Polks were R1's, and then shortly after RT800's. I went in prepared to buy RT400's, and ALMOST walked out with a pair of demo RT1000's. Always have loved, and probably always will love the RT line. A lot of sound, for a VERY fair fair price.

Let's not get into the bi-wire thing again - although I do have my RT20P's hooked up with a Signal Cable Ultra bi-wire...... ;)

Liv4fam is doing extremely well. He is a huge Crestron dealer in AZ. One of his jobs where in CE PRO mag.Crestron is all he does. He is a Top Programer and now is is doing system design. He lived out there before he moved out here, then he moved back out there to help run the family Business. Actually he is a really good guy. One of the very best Installers I have ever met. It was a pleasure to work with him and learn from him.

Agreed with the Rt's , they will always have a special place.

It's ok Ben, your desire for interpersonal attachments is well documented on the forum. It's a fundamental of human motivation, you just exhibit more than the 'normal' member.

Besides, if we all liked the same thing, life would be pretty boring. I just find it amusing that the same engineers you asked help from building your Frankenpolks, are some of the same people that developed the LSi line.

Bottom line, every (reputable even) manufacturer makes choices to meet a pricepoint. Build a speaker, sell a few thousand pair, and then we can talk seriously about the inner workings and improvements. Seriously, maybe you could do it. I'd love to be able to - but I simply don't have the know how.

Yes I fully agree. It would be hard to supply these components, and keep the price/production of the LSI at where it is with the components I used. Modding has been a compassion of mine. I am here because I have mad respect for Polk/Polk CS. This is also clear when ever the tropic comes up.

I have always recommended the LSI's in their price point. Nothing beats them in their price range dollar for dollar. You can look back and see that. I was just tickled by how much of a gain could be had by replacing a few components in the XO's. Again I wish I could change the title. Maybe you can?

I looked for RT3000p's for several years. I finally found an RT5000 system and had fly 600 miles and drive them back. I was able to sell the CS1000p and FX1000's, which I already had, and recover most of my investment. I wound up with a rosewood RT5000 system with an additional set of FX's for 7.1. Actually 7.4... I have four SVS 20-39 PCPlus subs.

I had RT1000's, RT2000's, CS400's and a variety of FX surrounds in the meantime. The RT3000p's were worth the wait. I have yet to hear any speaker system that beats my RT5000 +2 system, at any price. Certainly not for the prices I paid.

BTW, I recall a recent review of the new Polks in Home Theater Magazine. The writer lamented that he did not buy the set of RT3000p's he reviewed many years earlier. Said he always regretted it.

Don't give up on your "Holy Grail". You will eventually find it, and be very happy you did. I sure am!

I found a pair of rt3000p's in a pawn shop. I somehow did not know Polk made a set like these. There was a price tag of 600.00 placed on all 4 speakers. I was drooling at first ,but 2400.00 was way out of reach even with a reduction in price that you usually get at some pawn shops. Looking closer I found one of the bass cabinets was missing its amp...A salesman came up and said "nice speakers huh?" OH YEAH I replied. He then said I was the only one that looked at them in months...He said I could probably get them at a good price. I said don"t bother, they're out of my league even though one needs an amp. I was thinking PARTS express 200.00 amp to fix the one cabinets open hole. I asked him if they had the amp in the back and he said no and that would help me get them for a lower price too.. My wife had come over from the jewelry section and asked whats up? The guy has gone to ask the mananger for a price on these. OK she said, and also asked me how much to start. WHAT!!!! she replied . She knew about my new found love for POLK speakers after I found a new pair of Monitor 10's I found at our local Goodwill for 24.00pr. Your not seriously thinking of getting these (rt3000p's) she asked me. Well I would like to. I can make payments on the credit card. I got THE LOOK!!!!! The return of the salesman broke the stare and he anounces 500.00. I told him sorry 2000.00 was still to much for me. He chuckled and said no no no 500.00 for all 4. My wifes stare weekened just enough for me to ask the guy if we could here the one with the amp. Sure he said. Well my wife loved Gloria Estefan's music for years and when he hooked the one speaker up to the radio "The rythmn is gonna getcha" was starting..WOW, JAW DROPPING, FN AWSOM were thoughts that came to my mind. My wife had never smiled that wide I don't think.Then the bass drums started hitting. The concrete floor was vibrating and massaging my feet. I bought them. Then through this forum and Ken, I purchased 2 of the last 20 amps that were available from Polk because the price reduction and I knew I would probably never here anything better the rest of my life. I know all about the 10k to 50k sets out there from reveiws I've read but for now these are (for the money someone can get a set for) the best set I know of that are affordable to us average income people. I will add that I have never heard Celin Dion's "O Holy Night " sound any finer than on my RT3000P's. Thank you again, Polk Audio forum members and Ken. You all are the best

I would love to have the complete rt5000 set some day.
I saw one on ebay years ago and the price was great. It was in maryland I think,and pick up only was the terms. Only a 6 hour ride one way. def. a one day journey but I didn't have the money or something major was going on so I had to let them go to some other very lucky person.:(
I wonder if there is a record of how many sets were made....I would like to know.

The rt5000 system was very unique. It's a system that I personally would love to set up and calibrate for someone or even myself If I had the room for a vintage 2nd theater.

The rt3000p's are just cool. With proper power and setup , they do sound pretty damn good. Hell If I ran across a pair, I would be very tempted to purchase them.

The RT5000 is one awesome sounding setup. Put a good power amp and interconnects behind them and they come alive. Now if I can just find another set of FX1000's so I can go 7.1.......

I had the full 5000 set at one stage, ended up selling the center in favour of a pari of 55i's, still have the rest and I can tell you the 3000's make great rears. ;)
