I want to modify these and am considering

1) removing the crossovers and wall-mounting them

2) upgrading inductors and capacitors as necessary

3) rewiring using solid silver

Someday I will consider a marchand active xover and biamp.

My source is Marantz 63 mkII direct into NAD 270 amp.
I also use Rega 3 into a Carver receiver as preamp.

This is not real high-end, I know, but I want to get the optimum out of what I have, or, to put it plainly, what I can afford. I can spend hundreds not thousands.

Any thoughts on this? I'd like to hear from other SDA SRS owners!

BTW, I made 22 gauge X2 twisted pair magnet wire cables last night . I was amazed by the result. Lost bass but cleaned up the midrange significantly! These are not real bass performers in my opinion anyway and I might consider a pair of powered subs (OK, I'm prepared to spend a bit of money....)

Something I'd like to add

1) I'm not Mariko. That's my wife.

2) I'm really attached to my Polks. Some may think it's irrational.

Upgrading the crossover parts is one thing, but if you try to use a Marchand active crossover you will lose the SDA part of the speaker system.

I can't, my CRS+'s had that "unknown" problem, well I found the broken wire that was making the intermittent sound problems, so I got to fix that first. I will say the LSi9's are very VERY nice.

From mermory, I think the LSi9's are better in a lot of ways, but they are missing the SDA effect.

Thanks for the replies. I wonder... can't I go active and still keep my SDA? I don't have a schematic but... Anyway, that's PLAN B.

I'll be doing PLAN A as soon as the silver wire arrives. Then the xovers will be coming out. I will silver wire everything, and then look into the capacitor issue. What can you recommend for upgrade?
