How many Blu-rays are in YOUR collection?

I'm already up to 35 two weeks after buying my Pioneer Elite 05-FD. I told myself, now that I've sold every last bit of my beloved HD DVD movie collection and XA2, I'll start into Blu-ray slowly...well, so much for that. :p

LOL! I did have it, and then I could not resist the temptations of the better component DACs on the 05 since I'm not in HDMI world yet. ;)

Just picked up 3 used copied of The Mummy, Fantastic 4, and Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer today at my local Hastings. I love that store, they have some sweet deals!

5 - The free ones. Mostly becuase I have not been too interested in recent movie releases to warrant paying $25 a piece. Seems like the last 15 DVDs I bought were all less than $15; most being $10.

There are a couple that to me warrant the blu-ray price tag, but I am waiting for them to get cheaper. Things will have to get really cheap for me to replace current DVDs with their blu-ray counterpart.

I have 3, one for each of my legs :eek::D Rambo, Black Hawk Down and Terminator 1. With the price of these I too, as many have mentioned, will be very selective as to which ones I buy until the price goes down.

I will be only buying Blu when I know I will re-watch the movie and rent or buy DVD when Im not sure ... for example I just bought 12 DVDs recently ... Cocoon, Rush Hour 3, Contact, Fire in the Sky, Sopranos Season 6 pt 1, Sopranos Season 6 pt 2, Live Free or Die Hard , The Brave One and several others .... besides the Sopranos I got each of those for $5.99 NEW! At this point I dont think I would get $22-26 MORE Enjoyment out of the film if it were on Bluray ... the only one that I may regret not getting in Blu is Live Free or Die Hard but I have never seen it before so I cant be sure yet.

I will be picking up Rocky Balboa once it falls from the inflated price of $32.99, I almost picked it up on DVD for $5.99 but stopped myself because I knew I would just end up re-buying it in Blu eventually so no point 'wasting' $5.99.

I am also checking all Blu movies to make sure that they have lossless audio and I go on Blu-ray.com to get a rating of the audio and video. Thus I did NOT pick up Terminator 2 due to lack of lossless audio track ... Ill wait for the re-release sometime :) I was never like that for DVDs but now I am becoming a little more 'snobby' or 'refined' in my technical choices (you pick). I will not replace DVDs with Blu if there is only marginal improvements.

Soon to be added to my collection will be Starship Troopers 1, Enter the Dragon, Ironman, Kill Bill Series, Warlord, Predator ....

Just FYI, Enter the Dragon is $13.95 at Amazon...

And Rambo, Terminator, Live Free or Die Hard (All the Die Hards actually), and Predator are part of a 3 for 2 sale that ends at Amazon September 25th. If you are paying 30 bucks a disk, you are paying way too much. Even new top tier releases at Amazon regularly go for only 24 bucks or so. The catalog titles you like are often less, especially if there is a sale...

Sadly that is the difference between living in populated California and under populated rural and remote Northern Ontario in Canada .... you are held hostage to monopolistic Future shop prices and pay $24+ per title plus $4.50 shipping charges :( I will look to see if Amazon.ca has any similar deals for your Norther neighbors.

Are these actually the same grade as what you get at the retail store? I know when in college I got tons of CDs on the 10 for a $.01 and buy 3 over 3 years deals, but I noticed that the back art on the CD case had a unique logo that wasn't on the CD's from the record stores. It just made me think the "club" CDs were the B stock.

I have never had a single problem with any of the DVD's I got from Columbia House. I probably have around 120 from them and played many of them multiple times. Looking at the Transformers blu I got yesterday and just unwrapped, I cannot find any indication that it is any different than the one I would have got from Best Buy for twice the price.
All of the covers have been perfect, the discs have played perfectly, and the customer service has been excellent.

I just bought Top Gun and Behind Enemy Lines Blu-ray today. I like blurays mainly for the TrueHD and DTS HD MA tracks. Not so much the video because I'm using a 51" Hitachi RPTV. It still looks very clear though just not as bright as Flat Panel LCD or Plasma.

1 BR disc for me. Still have about 30 HD-DVDs.

I also Netflix movies for the most part, or RedBox. If a great movie comes out that I really want to own, I'll get the BR version (like IronMan). Everything that's been out already, I already own on SD or HD-DVD so no point buying it again. With good upconversion, it's not worth it to me.
