So i was sitting around thinking, how cool would it be to have a 80s/90s themed used electronics/home entertainment store, where everything appeared as if it were new (As in cosmetically/electroncially restored) and set up like it would be a in a tweeter or something. I guess it would sort of be a glorified pawn shop for electronics but I think it would be neat. Come up with some stupid name like "The Wiz" or whatever they were had, and display old and I suppose outdated technology, but make it seem cool.

I guess how I came up with this is I've been buying old Polk speakers, old (late 90s) apple computers, and am just thinking since other people seem to think this stuff is neat, that a store set up this way could be really interesting.

Any ideas or comments? Crazy right, haha.

No disrespect, but as audio goes, the '80s and '90s were some of the lamest times for audio, when compared to the '60s/'70s. The CD made car audio tolerable, but ushered in millions of poorly recorded CDs for the masses that had no clue what good sound was. Some call it the era of BPC (black plastic crap, rack systems) as far as electronics goes with power ratings being a joke.

On a brighter note though, Polk Audio was one of the few companies that came to the front of the pack during this time when most of the giants of audio were slipping away. Sansuii, Marantz, Kenwood, Pioneer, etc. all slid away into BPC land.

Yea i know what you mean, I just think it'd be neat to have I guess a themed "junk" store, set up like a mock "yesteryear" store.

As a retail store, it will never fly since most people can't remember what they had for dinner the nite before.

However, as a museum, I think it would be a great idea.

Yea i guess it'd probably turn into more of an upscale pawn shop type thing, idk if i had the resources to just take that big a chance and open a place like this, i so would.
