You better have your ass better for PF '08 :p. Get well soon.
Upper respiratory illness/bugs can be a real bitch. I dealt with all last year from Thanksgiving thru New Years and almost to Valentines Day. Missed part of X-mas as well as New Years Eve and other events in between because of it. I hope i never get it that badly again. Healthy 41 year old here, and it kicked my ass.

# When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Jesse.
# Jesse doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.
# There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Jesse has allowed to live.
# Outer space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet with Jesse.
# Jesse does not sleep. He waits.
# Jesse is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order are trademarked names for his left and right legs.
# Jesse is the reason why Waldo is hiding.
# Jesse counted to infinity - twice.
# When Jesse does a pushup, he isn’t lifting himself up, he’s pushing the Earth down.
# Jesse is so fast, he can run around the world and punch himself in the back of the head.
# Jesse hand is the only hand that can beat a Royal Flush.
# Jesse can lead a horse to water AND make it drink.
# Jesse doesn’t wear a watch, HE decides what time it is.
# Jesse can slam a revolving door.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes.
I'm back home, not 100%, but they tell me I'll be ok as long as I quit smoking. The problem there is that I really like smoking. On the other hand, I like breathing a bit more.....going to be a tough one.
I have to say, this was the best hospital I've ever been in. Even the food was decent....had crabcakes for dinner one night, not bad.
The folks in the ER where a little shocked when I mentioned walking across the parking lot to the door. They said I shouldn't have be able to walk more than a few feet. Effers don't know me!
Bear, get better Bro!

My brother in law just got this same "edict" from failing a stress test and then having a stint shoved up his groin up into his heart to look at the dark spot in his right ventrical. No surgery but definitely a lifestyle change which first and foremost includes no smoking. Good luck Jesse. You may think quiting smoking will kill you...but just the opposite...you may get to hang around for awhile.
Get better soon!

Welcome home Jesse. I smoked for 30+ years. Love to smoke, but quit about 3 years ago. Not an easy thing to do and I could pick it up again easily. Smoking was making sick as all hell. I developed copd and boarder line emphysema. My doc told me if I didn't stop that I wouldn't make it to 50. I made the commitment and haven't looked back. Now I breathe easier and feel better overall. It's one less thing for the ole lady to bitch at me about, plus I get extra $ for other goodies. Like Troy said, you can do it.

Glad you're home and feeling better. Another recent quitter here (one year smoke free).
I loved smoking and did it for close to 35 years, and never thought I'd quit. I never even tried to quit until a couple of years ago. I was able to do it in the second "serious" attempt. Commit lozenges helped me do it.
I am 49 and have never felt better in my life. I always had a lit cigarette, and we would run out of milk or toilet paper but I'd never run out of smokes ;)
The decision is only yours, but let me tell you, it is worth the effort.
