I need a fairly inexpensive subwoofer $300 or less preferably. It will be run off an HK AVR for my buddy.
I got him a pretty slick HK last year, and now he is helping me with some window installs and wants a good sub.
Anybody have an old SVS or something they are willing to part with? Let me know what you guys have hanging around not being used.
Thanks a million!
David

Nobody has a sub of any sorts available huh? Hmmm... Maybe take the $300 a tad higher if need-be :)
Not mine but here is an SVS for sale.
SVS for sale around NYC (http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/hardware-sale-trade/277045-fs-svs-cs-20-39-external-500-watt-amp-nyc-local-pickup-dropoff-only-150-a.html)

How do these compare to say an HSU or SVS? The only polk subs I have heard really kinda suck. ha

Thats because these effers don't know what their talking about, Polk subs are fine. I think those others you mentioned cost more.
This sub and the 650 were very well received. I used mine stacked corner loaded and blew the crotch out of certain pole dancers uniform. I started with one and it did not do it for a very large room, I stacked the second one and that did the trick.
So it would depend on the room size if just one these would do it for your friend. I can sell them for 190 each, but they are heavy so not sure how much he wants to pay just for shipping.
but hey they are here for now.

What do you want for shipping to 66202 on the 450?
All I know is he wants something that will boom! Not sure which of the ones mentioned would boom best :) He's not really an huge audiophile, but likes his sound LOUD!
Any other's that can chime in on the "Boomyness" of their sub, please feel free to :) :) :)

Did you consider this from PartsExpress? This particular subwoofer has gotten some pretty good buzz (so to speak; no pun intended) at audioasylum. I haven't seen/heard one, but it is tempting. 249 smackoleums.
Just a thought; YMMV.

Hmm. Ok, I could use an expert to step in now and recommend something from what has been mentioned. I am leaning toward the Polks, but not sure how the others compare.
All I really know is SVS, because it's what I have.
Any guidance from above would be greatly appreciated hehe.

What size is the room? What speakers is he using?

Its just a standard 12 x 16 x 8 foot room. He is running older Bose speakers, nothing fancy.
I more I think about it, the more I am leaning toward the Polk Sub, but will it do ok by itself and not double stacked? I am not getting him two subs haha.
Thanks in advance!

looks like it would be about 45.00 to ship it to you, I have to check the box dimensions to make sure its not "oversize". I would think it would work in that sized room. Maybe call Ken at Polk and see if they recommend it for that size.
here's a thought, is anyone close to you going to Polkfest? I could bring it with me and trade off there?
