If I were to set my mains to Large in my HT set up...do they get the LFE info also?

Yes, according to what you have them crossed over at. I would go back an forth between small and large to see which setting sounds better and blends best with your monster subs.

Thanks. It's been a while. My subs aren't as monstrous as they used to be. running Dual Hsu Uls-15s.

Nothing like getting two completly different opinions....

Typically no. For your speakers other than the sub - small has crossover setting, large is full range.

If you have your sub set to off (or no), you MUST run your mains as large and they will recieve the LFE information and bass information for any speaker set to small.

If you have your sub set to on (or yes) it (and only it) will recieve LFE information and the bass information for any speaker you have set to small.

The caveat to this is some AVR's or Pre/pros have a setting for LFE + mains. In this case, it typically runs your mains full range as well as sending the same bass info to the sub. (the main speakers do not take on additional work from the sub, rather the sub + the mains get the sub 80hz or so bass for the main channels.)

Run your floorstanders full throttle. That's what you bought them for.

I agree for 2-channel... However, for HT with those two subs, that's not how it works.

I run my mains on full and IMO, it sounds better.

Since you're using full range towers, why don't you try both ways and see which you prefer.

The only issue I see with running the mains on FULL, is the subsonic freqs with movies that regular music just doesn't have. Certain movies can dip well into the 10Hz range, in which about every "full-range" speaker can not handle. Having 2 subs as in Darla's case alleviates that problem, her subs can handle those subsonic freqs. If I had her Von's and depending on the crossover settings, I'd cross those mains anywhere from 40-80Hz and let those subs in which they were made for do their work. Of course the settings are going to be dependent on what her SMS-1 is telling her for her area.

There's a lot of great info on this very subject (do a search). Almost all suggest the "small" setting & for a good reason. The first being (and there are a lot more good reasons) that there are hardly any true full range speakers, those that are, are quite expensive & very very large. Let your speakers do what they do best, mids & highs & let the sub do it's job. You've got superb subs for your set-up, so why not maximize there potential.

Thanks a lot guys. I actually get a better room response set to 'small'.
