My first time to the car audio side here.
A couple of noob questions. Can I assume generally that like home audio you really can't have too much power?
Will Alpines MRP-F250 @100 watts RMS x 2 bridged output at 4 ohms be enough for a set of DB6501s (10-100RMS) front only?
My other question is there won't be a sub but do I have to worry about alternator stuff and my battery etc with this relatively small amp? This is going in a 2002 Civic?
Thanks.

You can have too much power. In home audio you have custom built enclosures built specifically for the speakers that are in them and precisely to manage that speaker so you can get away with using a ton of power because theyll be able to soak it up better than a speaker mounted in free air like your door panel or rear deck as free air makes for much less power handling.
Generally I recommend using an amplifier rated at what the speakers youre using are rated at. But you being a experienced in home audio guy then its ok to use bigger amps since youll use common sense with the volume and be able to recognize when youre overdriving your speakers. So I say yes - 100 watts RMS will work just fine for those speakers.
Since youre not going to be running a sub and needing a big beefy sub amp, your stock charging system will be able to handle a measly 200 watt amp with little problem so long as your battery is in good condition.

Roger that. Thanks. Sounds like I'm in the clear then. I'm just picking the Alpine amp as it seems to be enough power and relatively inexpensive. The reviews I've seen have been positive.
Thanks again.

Good choice. Alpine is one of the few companies out there that everything they make is quality stuff. The V Power line of amps is possibly the best value for your dollar amp line on the market. No fancy bells or whistles but good clean power and good build quality.
