Recently purchased: fronts RTiA1's; surround FXiA4's and have ordered a CSiA4 center speaker.
My current receiver is a Denon AVR1500 (70 watts w/Dolby Surround Sound only).
Will upgrade to something along the lines of an Onkyo 606 (or equivalent; open to recommendations here as well) at some point.
My room is 24ft x12ft with a 9ft ceiling. TV located along one of the 12ft walls.
Seating area is right in the middle, 12ft from the TV, front and rear speakers.
Club Polk experts, what are your subwoofer recommendation(s) for my setup?
thanks

Don't know exactly what you are looking for as far as power/sound, but I have a PSW125 and I am very pleased with it. It puts out plenty of punch, and sounds great at all levels. I paid around $300 with a 10 year warranty on it at Circuit City, but it was last years model so I got a pretty good discount on it. Like Leroy said, depends on your budget. As for an Onkyo receiver suggestion, I just upgraded to the TX-SR806 and couldn't be happier, it is an amazing reciever for the price (I paid about $750 with 5 year warranty)

How do you have the PSW125 oriented?
Is it facing your seating area - does it matter?

I have it to the left of my front channel (left one) facing my couch about 10 feet away, turned about halfway up. Don't know if this is "correct" but it seems just fine to me.
Careful, the Onkyo 606 does not have pre-outs, so you will not be able to add amps in the future.
I, like many, will recommend SVS for a sub. Great products and a great company.

Good luck putting your system together!

I have the Polk PSW111 and it pounds, I promise. It's only an 8", but with 300 watts near a corner, it hits hard and has a great frequency spread. Bought for $299 at Best Buy.

I have dual Mirage Omni S8s and a Klipsch RW-10d that i swap between.
I would heartily recommend either of these on a budget, otherwise, SVS.

thanks for the replies....
I just checked the Mirage and Klipsch subs; look great, but I need subwoofers with speaker level input and outputs (should have mentioned this earlier) with my older Denon. These two subs only have inputs (according to the info provided at Crutchfield).
Polk's PSW line all have speaker level inputs & outputs.
Has anyone had a downward and forward firing subs?
What is the difference in effect/sound/etc between the two types?

I do not have experience with that particular model, but Velodyne gets a lot of respect here. The first question I would ask is whether your priority is for room shaking special effects for movies, or reproduction of deep musical bass, such as an organ, cello or piano notes ... I have a great little budget sub for movies, but it's not "accurate" enough for music IMO, so I'm changing for a "sealed" type enclosure. Sealed subs are reputed to be better for tight musical bass. Some of them are so good that they may be very good for special effects also. If you don't mind a lot of bass overwhelming your music, and special effects are your main priority, then you have even more value choices. Read through this thread, where I posted some questions, and see if you find any answers to help your situation. Some of the big name recommendations turned up in the discussion, as well as some links.

Go DSW or go home. Simply incredible subwoofers that would be great in your system.

Does your Denon not have pre-outs on the back panel? If so, that Onkyo looks like it might be something of a sideways move, except for HDMI. You probably won't notice a huge difference in sound quality IMO, if any at all, although some will argue that the addition of TrueHD and DTS-HD decoding would justify your choice.
Depending on budget, your choice of receiver and subwoofer could be a genuine upgrade in sound quality, even without spending a fortune. You just need to specify what your priorities are.

Epik subs -- extreme power, very musical, very low priced.
Just received a Valor ($549 - 350W, 15" driver). Sounds really good with my Polk Monitor 70s. I moved the old Velodyne VRP1200 ($250 - 130W, 12" driver) to the bedroom and that sounds ok with Polk Monitor 60s in a smaller room. But go for the Valor for a large room, it is fantastic and since it's sealed it is VERY musical.

I'm not familiar with that particular model. But I can comment with 1st hand knowledge of the SPL-1200R. My room is pretty much like yours (13x32x7) & the SPL's performance is down right awesome for both 2 channel & HT. It does such a fantastic job that I just had to get another one to run stereo subs. It replaced an SVS cylinder sub & boy am glad I did it.

Did the DSW Pro series replace the PSW303/404/505 series?
Amazon has a PSW505, new, for $280.
Thanks again for all the info.
