should i put 1 or 2 subs in my car???

i drive a 1992 chevy lumina euro edition and i recently put in a system consiting of a pioneer head unit and polk 6X4 coaxials and 6X9 tree ways in it and was wondering with a budget of around 500 dollars should i or could i install 1 or 2 subs, and what kind of an amp should i put in. loudness is not my priority and clarity is of the utmost importance as well as durability. any advice is very much welcomed :D

I have always been a fan of a one subwoofer system. I think with the right speaker and a box built to the specifications of that sub, I think you will be more than satisfied. I am running one kicker comp vr in a six cubic foot box and its more than enough bass and it sounds pretty good. With two subs, you take up more space and the subs will be getting less airspace than one sub. Like I said, this is my opinion, but I think its the best setup for clarity. Macloed is a poster on here, I am sure he will reply as well as others who will give their input.

It depends on what youre after really. If you like big bass then the more subs the better but if youre just wanting a nice musical blend of low end then a single 12" sub with some decent power (500+ watts) will work nicely.

Im running a single 12 with 800 watts and I have no problem hitting the 18 Hz note on the IASCA test disc or the 21 Hz note on the MECA disc.

For $500 you will be better off going 1 sub.

That gives you:
$300 for a decent amp.
$200 for a decent sub.

I just went with a vibe cbr10 evoII and coming from e46 stock sound it sounds amazing lol
