Hi,
I'm looking for a subwoofer to go with my Polk Audio R50's (Front) and R150 (Rear) with CSR center channel with Pioneer 1018 Receiver.
My room is rectangular in shape and is around 14'x16' in size. I've been looking at Polk's and I really wanted a sub that could go down to the lowest possible frequency without paying a lot.
I know the PSW505 is discontinued but I can still get it online for the same price as the PSW125. I know the 505 can go down to 23Hz while the PSW125 only down to 32Hz and the PSW505 has 300 watts compared to 150.
So my question is: Is there any reason to NOT get the PSW505 and go with the PSW125? And will the PSW505 perform well over its entire volume range? Or does it only do a goodjob at higher volumes?
Thank You!
Btw: 1st post!

I've had both and the 505 is a better sounding sub

I'll let you know how my 505 works out when I have it all hooked up. Right now it's just running off my TV output until I get my new receiver in, but even at that it sounds nice when listening to the Sirius radio channels.
For what it's worth, I got mine recently at OneCall.com and they were extremely helpful. I emailed them to see if they were going to be having any specials on it and Chadwick G. responded saying that had a limited supply and when they were gone they'd be gone. I told him I saw it had gone up in price and he offered to give it to me for the previous price of $240. Not sure if you'd have the same luck but it's worth a try.
Just checked and it's back down to $249. It was up to about $279 earlier this week. You could get it for under $300 shipped. I think that's a great deal.
Just offering my 2 cents :D

I just bought a dsw pro 400 for 279 shipped from the E Store, and I'm amazed at the output. It far exceeded my expectations.

Where did you get that? I'm looking at the PSW125 or PSW505 for ~250 plus s/h
Edit: I see the DSW Pro 400 on a ebay store...brand new for 249 + s/h. Saw the DSW Pro 500 for 300 too.
That is 8" 180 watts with 25Hz on the low end or 10" 200 watts/23Hz for DSW Pro 500 so technically not as good as the PSW505?

I think the C.W., especially since PolkFest 2008, is that the DSW Pro line is probably by far the best line-up of subwoofers Polk Audio has ever had, so the figures don't say everything ... I bet most here would recommend a DSW Pro rather than any of the PSW units.

Thanks for replies.
So I guess the DSW Pro 500 for 350 shipped would be a good idea then!

I have the DSW600, PSW505 and the PSW1000. The DSW600 is definitely a better sub than the PSW505 and I would expect that the DSW500 would be better as well. The remote control with the DSW series is a nice feature. Don't get me wrong about the PSW505 subs. They are good subs. I use three of them on my master bedroom system. They work nicely for music and HT.
