Okay time to break down and replace the 57 inch Rear CRT HD set. I've got my set picked out in the 67 inch Samsung HD LED TV. thats right the Led light engine.
My question is I have a HK AVR 635. doesn't support HDMI switching. Doesn't do Dolby HD and DTS-HD. What would you guys recommend. Im pushing all polk monitor series speakers....time to move on with those too? Budget for a reciever I wanna be under 1200.00

Have you thought about getting a bluray player that decodes internally and has 5.1 outputs? You could run hdmi to your tv and 6 rca cables to your existing avr. (Assuming your avr has 5 or 7.1 inputs you are not using.)

Either you could do this IMHO.
A.) replace AVR with one that does HDMI switching also. (Recommend Pioneer elite)
B.) Do what "McLoki" above suggested and run HDMI directly to tv run optical to AVR or use the analog inputs for high res, use a programmable remote for easier setup switching back and forth.

Let me know how you like the LED tv's they are way to expensive for I thought everyone.
As for the amp i would go with HDMI switching like something from Onkyo that will be my next upgrade. You midous will upgrade those monitor series to something like the RSi or the LSi series because you will have plenty of power to use them.
Check out the Onkyo 706, it does HDMI switching and decodes all the new formats. It also has preamp outs in case you decide to move up the speaker chain and also pick up a external amp.
