Hi, this must be the place to go for help from the pro's. I own a Sony STR-DG1000. 110 watts per channel, 7.1 channels. It can be set for 4ohm loads. I want to get a pair of Polk LSi25's, but, it looks like they may be too power hungry. Can anyone help me out here, it sounds like these LSi25's may be too much for this receiver. Are these speakers to much for this receiver, I enjoy both, movies and music. Just got a Sony BDP-S550 blu-ray and now thinking of upgrading my speaker system. I currently own Sony SS-K70ED's for the front, Sony SS-K30ED's for the surround, Sony SS-CNK10ED for the center, all of those I believe are built by B&W, and a Sony SA-WX700 for a sub-woofer. If I can't go with these, what about other Polk Audio speakers ?

Welcome to Club Polk. Yes those speakers do like more power than most receivers can put out. The new RTa line is very good for HT, but if you are a music nut you may want to go for the LSI's. After listening to Polk's RTa's you may become a music nut like I did, and regret not getting the LSI's;)

If your Sony doesn't have preamp outputs to add external amplification, & you aren't planning on updating your receiver, or plan to go to separates then don't even think about it.

The RTI-a line would be better with your Sony.

I agree with this comment. Go with the RTi line from Polk.

I have the RTi12's and they are AWESOME For music! You can pick them up super cheap these days, and they will do amazing things to music.

But truth be told, they didn't really open up until I hooked up a nice amp to them. The difference was night and day.

So enjoy and welcome aboard. You can't go wrong with either way you go!

If you ever want to sell the sony speakers you have let me know. I have the center you have and your speakers would make a perfect 6.1 system match with my center.
