a buddy of mine just bought a pair sda-srs monsters on ebay. he needs some advice on power to drive these babies. he wants to match up the speaker specs with the amp. does he need huge power or can he drive them with minimum power. he wants solid state products only . he doesn't want digital power.

Little confused, but I am guessing your friend got some SDA SRS's or 1.2's. (based on the size you mention.)

The kind of power SDA's like is quality more than quantitiy. (but they can take more quantity than most)

I would guess that tubes sound very good with them - If solid state is what you are looking for, I would go with high current and a high dampening factor - also make sure you get an amp that has a common ground. Look for some amps in your budget and report back what you are looking at. We will let you know if they should work well or not. To be honest the amplifier field is wide open when it comes to quality speakers like the SDA's - to ask what one will work is like asking "I am kind of active - what shoes should I get......"

Good luck in your search - your friend will love his new speakers....
